Details
This 1956 Willys Jeep CJ3B is built from the ground up for off-road adventure. Power is generated by a Camero sourced 327ci small block Chevy V8 engine that powers all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. This open-bodied Jeep wears an older bright yellow repaint that stands out on the trail. The interior compliments the paint job with black and gray Corbeau racing seats with 5-point harnesses that keep both front occupants secure. Interior modifications include a custom fabricated steel differential shifter housing, updated gauges, auxiliary switches, USB charger and a Kenwood Bluetooth amplifier and roll bar mounted speakers. Backing the new power plant, the mechanical upgrades include dual exhaust and Dana 60 axles with stopping power from Wilwood disc brakes. FOX performance shocks lift the vehicle to accommodate larger wide-set off road tires for additional stability. The custom, dual-lever selectable differential locker allows the drivetrain to independently and together engage both the front and rear axles. Off road clearance is provided by a FOX Performance coilover and shock set lifting the truck to clear 37” tires on manual-locking hubs. Additional off-road modifications include a steel front bumper, full roll cage, LED headlights and taillights and a larger, relocated RCi Racing fuel tank replacing the rear bench seat that allows for greater ground clearance. The vehicle spent time in Iowa before purchase in 2010 by the current owner. The Jeep is currently located in Dallas, Texas.
Included in the third-party inspection report are photos of the overall condition of the vehicle which shows signs of use consistent with trail use. The exterior has paint scratches on the hood, fenders and door frames as well as a dent in the hood. Exposed sheet metal and surface rust are visible on the hood and tailgate. Doors and the passenger side mirror are missing. Inside, the vehicle shows slight wear and missing carpet and floor mats. The frame and roll bars are solid and mechanically, the inspection and owner confirm that the vehicle runs as designed. Included in the sale are one set of keys, a car cover and dyno results on the V8.
This truck is being marketed by a CLASSIC.COM Pro on behalf of its current owner and is located in Dallas, TX.
About the model
The Willys CJ-3B replaced the CJ-3A in 1953, the same year Willys-Overland was bought by Kaiser Motors. The CJ-3B was powered by a 134ci (2.2L) inline 4-cylinder engine that replaced the “Willys Go Devil” 4-cylinder made famous in World War II. The CJ-3B introduced a higher grille and hood to clear the new Willys Hurricane engine. A four-speed manual transmission became optional in 1963. Until 1968, about 196,000 CJ-3Bs were produced.
