For Sale at Auction: 1967 Iso Rivolta Lele in Atlanta, Georgia
First appearing in 1965, the Iso Grifo offered an unparalleled
combination of Italian styling and American power. Combining the
talents of some of the most highly revered automotive specialists
of the day, the chassis and mechanical components were engineered
by the great Giotto Bizzarrini while Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone
would design a striking yet aerodynamic body. Boasting smooth
lines, a long hood, and a short rear deck, the Grifo exudes a
distinctive and timeless appearance. A robust American V8
powertrain offering around 300 horsepower provided exceptional
performance. Aerodynamically advanced, it was a formidable
contender among the high-speed luxury grand tourers of its era.
Inside the cabin, the Iso Grifo provides a luxurious and
comfortable environment which features high-quality materials such
as leather upholstery and a wood-trimmed dashboard. Boasting modern
amenities for its time, the Grifo would include power windows, and
available air conditioning. Despite its undeniable charm and
performance capabilities, the Iso Grifo remained a
limited-production car due to its handcrafted nature with only 330
Series 1 models being built between 1965 and 1969. The exclusivity
of the Grifo added to its allure, attracting celebrities and
wealthy car enthusiasts alike.
Finished in a stunning period-correct Azzuro Metallizzato exterior,
this 1967 Iso Grifo has known history from the 1990s. It was
acquired by an enthusiast in Maryland who owned it for
approximately five years before selling and then eventually
re-acquiring this example in the mid 2000s. After it returned to
the collection, it was sent to marque specialists Grand Touring of
Frederick, Maryland for a mechanical refurbishment. In the interest
of driving enjoyment, attention was focused on the driveline with
nearly all mechanical components receiving attention, expertly
dialed in to their desired specification. Once completed in early
2020, a Broad Arrow Group Car Specialist, very familiar with the
Iso Grifo reported after a road-test that this example was
undoubtedly the best handling and performing Series 1 Iso Grifo he
had ever experienced. There is no doubt that proper effort and
attention was taken into building this car to be driven
enthusiastically, and often. Chassis number 121 is sure to excite a
new owner, as it represents an incredible opportunity, not only
from the standpoint of rarity in sheer production numbers but also
the desirability that an Italian-American hybrid with stunning
styling and V8 power affords.
