Vehicle Description
There aren't too many cars that could be described as both vintage
and futuristic, but both adjectives definitely fit this 2011
Chevrolet Camaro 2SS/RS. With an appearance that will immediately
evoke memories of its predecessors from the vintage muscle car era,
this Chevy also benefits from some well-placed styling cues that
are very much of the present. It's sporting a great color and has
been very lightly driven, logging only about as many miles as most
cars see in a year and a half. And its dual 2SS/RS status brings a
number of welcome upgrades both inside and out.
A proud member of the fifth generation of Camaros that were first
unveiled at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, this 2011 has a ready
connection to the model's first generation - its low-slung,
pleasingly squared off appearance and distinctive front grille are
both updated styling cues from that bygone era. That's no accident.
This generation was intentionally created to appeal to those with
fond memories of the Camaro - and Chevy's efforts were certainly
successful. On the other hand, the aggressive angle of the
windshield and the way the front wheels are situated not far behind
the nose are decidedly modern touches. The Victory Red paint is
looking strong here - it's got a nice deep shine - and the broad
pair of contrasting black stripes that run across the hood and deck
lid are still looking fresh. This is a car that's obviously seen
both attention and plenty of sheltered garage time. Up front, the
High Intensity Discharge (HID) will do a great job of lighting the
road ahead.
The interior is in good shape and, as you open the door, you'll
notice a pair of front buckets with aggressive yet still smooth
bolsters to keep you in place during spirited cornering. Their
black leather surfaces come via this 2011's 2SS status and the
seating really looks nice in this setting. Despite its nod to the
past, this Camaro's audio options are thoroughly modern - the
featured AM/FM/DVD Boston Acoustics system also offers Sirius
connectivity, so you'll have no shortage of entertainment choices
at your disposal. At the center of the console, the Hurst shift
handle brings just a little added flair to the well-maintained,
unaltered interior. This is a very appealing driving
environment.
The 6.2-liter L99 V8 that lurks below the hood is a very potent
engine, churning out 426 horsepower, along with 420 pound-feet of
torque. That abundant power is made all the more efficient by
Chevy's featured launch control, which keeps rear wheel spin in
check during hard, off-the-line acceleration. There's also a nod to
practicality here, with active fuel management that affords this
Camaro with markedly better gas mileage than you'd rightfully
expect from such a sizable engine. That engine is mated to a
6-speed automatic 6L80E transmission that offers both smooth,
precise shifts and a reputation for sturdiness, while 4-piston
Brembo brakes sit at all four corners to provide abundant stopping
power. Arguably one of the best upgrades that Camaro's fifth
generation brought was its fully independent, four-wheel
suspension, so you'll have no concerns about wheel hop when this
2011 negotiates uneven surfaces while cornering on its set of 20"
special edition SS/RS wheels that are wrapped with Falken Azenis
A/S tires that appear to have lots of tread left on them.
If you're looking for a nostalgia-inducing ride that offers plenty
of performance and curb appeal and also remains in its mechanical
prime, you need to check out this 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS/RS.
