For Sale: 1941 Buick Sedanette in Portland, Oregon

Vehicle Description

AMAZING ORIGINAL!  Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.

This 1941 Buick 46S Special Fastback ("Sedanet") Coupe was sold new on January 22, 1941 by Mueller-Harkins Motor Company in Tacoma, Washington. Sparingly used, impeccably maintained and never restored, it was acquired around 1990 by noted Northwest dealer and collector, Monte Shelton of Portland, Oregon. Over the next 30 years, Monte maintained the car, occasionally driving and showing it, while keeping it with his other collector vehicles in a climate-controlled showroom. With his passing, it is now being offered for sale. Today, the odometer shows 61,600 miles which is believed to be true and correct mileage from new.

The car continues to be in amazing original condition. The body shows no indication of damage, accidents, repainting or touch-ups. The paint appears to be the original Buick factory black lacquer that was applied 82 years ago. It wears a deep shine with no chipping or cracking. All of the chrome appears original and bright with no pitting or wear noted. The grille, bumpers, door handles and trim are excellent. All lights work.

The interior is fabulous. All original upholstery shows no signs of wear or abuse. No rips or tears. No musty odors or smells. The seats are firm and the fabric is supple and bright, not dry or brittle. Beautful tan wool headliner with working dome light. Woodgrained metal dashboard top and window moldings appear as-new with no rubbing or wear. Machine-turned dashboard panels are exceptional. All gauges look like new, work and register accurately. This car was obviously stored in the dark and not left outside to deteriorate. The carpeting is original tan "hogshair". Original brown (correct) rubber pedal covers. The rubber door sill plates show wonderfully and are not cracked or worn (another indication of the low mileage and fine care.) The banjo steering wheel is flawless with bright chrome, excellent emblem/horn button and smooth ivory plastic rim. Trunk lining is excellent original and appears as-new. Frame and undercarriage are clean and RUST-FREE.

PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.

Highly optioned with: 3-Band Radio (AM, Shortwave and Police bands) with center windshield post rotating antenna, Heater/Defroster, Dual Driving Lights, "Hill Holder" clutch control that keeps the car from rolling back when stopped on a hill.

Mechanically excellent. 248 cubic inch OHV straight 8 engine runs smoothly with no smoke, no noises, no leaks and no issues. Equipped with optional factory DUAL "COMPOUND" CARBURETORS, together with the 6.15:1 high compression cylinder head which boosts the engine output to 125 horsepower. Combine that with the lightweight, Fastback Coupe body and yes, it's fast! 3-speed manual transmission shifts crisply. Brakes stop smooth and straight. Monte added dual exhausts (the only change from original) and newer wide-whitewall radial tires. I have personally driven this car and it starts easily, runs great, and quickly hits 70 mph+ on the freeway, keeping up with (and passing) modern traffic. It is truly a pleasure to drive and is much like driving a modern car. I would be confident in driving this car across the country tomorrow. (Yes, it's that good!)

PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING.

There is little to add. If you are looking for a beautifully maintained original Fastback Buick, this car could not be duplicated by any restored car at any price. Includes original sales documents, manuals and advertising. It would be welcome in Preservation Class showing at any car show or concours event. It is also dialed-in and can be enjoyed regularly for local driving or extended touring. Truly the best of both worlds.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
