Carburation: Two Holley Dominators, 1000 CFM each
Ignition: MSD Digital-7 with Boost Retard, Crank Trigger, Launch
Control and Shift Light capable.
In Summary: The Donovan Engine is typical of the entire car.
Everything was well engineered and done right. The engine has been
dyno'd for break-in and Power Pulls.
For 91 Octane Fuel: 914HP @ 7,000RPM, 784 Ft. Lbs. torque with low
boost of 5 Lbs.... very streetable & under stressed.
For 116 Octane Fuel: 1128 HP @ 7,000 RPM, 908 Ft. Lbs. Torque with
low boost of 7 Lbs. 116 octane is achieved with racing gas or
adding a "Moroso" type additive to 91 octane fuel...Again engine is
under stressed.
This combination of Donovan Block / Dart Heads.... can produce well
over 3,000HP with appropriate fuels and boost. Currently it is set
up for low stress and durability....Change the Carburetor jets and
the Blower pully/boost....it's anything you want it to be!
Transmission: Mad Dog Transmissions in Florida make custom
transmissions for specific 'High Horsepower & Torque" applications.
They also are a key supplier to NHRA competitors. This particular
transmission is the "God Father" TH400 with ratios of: 2.48:1,
1.48:1, 1:1,.....Reverse is 2.07:1, Torque Converter is 2500 RPM
Stall Speed.
Rear Axle: Specially built by Currie Industries in Southern
California. This Differential is based on a Ford 9" design using
Currie and Strange components throughout. Severe duty Limited Slip,
Axles, Gears are utilized. Ring and Pinion Ratio = 3.50:1. Custom
rear housing and axle width created to work in conjunction with
rear wheel and rear fender dimensions.
Front Suspension / Brakes / Steering: Custom designed "Independent
Front Suspension" with adjustable ride height. Custom Aldan fully
adjustable Coilover / Shock Absorber suspension. Brakes are Wilwood
Discs in conjunction with a Wilwood Master Cylinder. Rack and
Pinion steering utilized.
Rear Suspension / Brakes: Unique "4 Link Rear Axle" design. Custom
Aldan fully adjustable Coilover / Shock Absorber suspension. Two
adjustable "Wheelie Bars" designed and fabricated for Safety.
Brakes are Wilwood Discs & E-Brake, to work in conjunction with a
Wilwood Master Cylinder.
Fuel Cell: AeroTec Labratories...ATL 18 Gallon Fuel cell....
Approved Worldwide for competition use. 20-gauge container, High
Tensile Fill plate, Ball Type vent check valve, Spring loaded Fill
valve, Dual "AN" outlets. Fuel cell is cleverly designed to can
contain 2 types of Fuel if desired. (9 Gallons of 91 Octane and 9
Gallons of Race Fuel) ...or act as a normal 18-gallon Fuel
cell.
Electrical System: Engine driven GM Mini Denso alternator (75amp),
1 wire connection. Dual aluminum battery boxes to house two 12 Volt
sealed batteries. Electronic mechanism to retract license plate,
Stoplight and Taillights are "Frenched" consistent with the
"Smooth" body design.
Body / Paint: All Steel body exterior is complete and finished with
Glasurit 90 Line - Base Coat/Clear Coat. Color is Midnight Black.
The Lightweight Fiberglass Tilt Front End is painted to match. The
entire exterior was color sanded with #4,000 grit sandpaper and
buffed to a very high luster. It is now ready for Flames, Stripes
or Graphics as the new owner chooses.
Interior: Two Procar Buckets Seats are finished in Black leather
with Red Piping. A center console to match. Instrument layout
design is finished and included but not sourced. Door panel design
is finished and included but not sourced.
Wheels / Tires: Front wheels are 6"x18" with M/T Sportsman R/S
Tires 26x6 R20LT, Rear wheels are 16"x18" with M/T Sportsman R/S
Tires 29x18 R20LT
You're looking at the dream of a Professional Engineer involved in
Aerospace design and manufacture here in Southern California. Larry
was also an avid Hotrodder and Bonneville Racer. Many of the
components Larry designed and built are still orbiting the planet!
Unfortunately, Larry unexpectedly passed away last year just as the
car was nearly complete. The industry lost a true, well-respected
enthusiast.
Larry always had a strong passion for the Willys "Gasser" style but
wanted "State of the Art" components for Engine / Drivetrain, Fuel,
Brakes, Steering and Suspension systems. Reliability, Drivability
and comfort were key elements for this build suitable for Larry's
larger than average physic.
Willys two door coupes from 1937-41 are virtually identical in size
and appearance. The problem is that when engine set back and rear
tire tubs are created for performance, interior space is seriously
compromised. This issue was solved by taking a Willys Four door
"Humpback" sedan and modifying (shortened) it to be a two door
"Humpback" Coupe. Working with "Paco" (formerly with Chip Foose) on
design, construction and painting of the "All Steel" body, the
result is a "Drop Dead Gorgeous" Willys coupe. It has room for
fully adjustable front seats, a picnic basket and with beautiful
"Suicide" doors. The look is stunning with Concours quality!!!
Wheelbase and drivetrain location are calculated for optimum weight
distribution as well as handling & braking.
All Steel body with Fiberglass tilt up hood.
This is a rolling chassis that has had all the heavy lifting
completed with over $300K invested. The dream stopped at this point
due to unexpected death 10 years after the concept was born.
No expense was sparred in the build including the best body work
and paint money can buy. Unfinished canvas ready to spec out to
your preferences and desires with interior of your dreams. Big
