For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Body off frame restored as a COPO clone. That is the special order code needed to order a 427. Very few were made and this one is authentic in looks, sound and performance!

EXTERIOR: If you ordered a COPO, you were only concerned with going fast. You would have checked the cowl hood to push that fresh air into the motor. You didn't want all the extra trim and spoilers or fancy stripes or wheels. It would be stripped down car just like this one, right down to the poverty wheels. They are wrapped in reproduction Goodyear Polyglas tires to really make it authentic. There is no rust or damage, it's all clean straight metal. According to the cowl tag it is a Daytona Yellow code 76 car. The paint is smooth and glossy. All the chrome, emblems, door handles, bumpers, marker lights etc. have been replaced. There is no antenna because it is a radio car. The stainless trim has been replaced. The front and rear glass is new. All the weather strips and seals have been replaced.

INTERIOR: No frills interior either. All you need is a tachometer, heck you didn't even want a radio. The revs coming out the chambered exhaust was your music. It is restored to factory specs from carpet to headliner. The seats are recushioned and reupholstered. Door panels and armrests were replaced. New tight-fitting headliner, new visors, and mirror. The dash pad, instrument bezels, vents, knobs have all been replaced. It has reproduction floormats, a factory radio plate and a deluxe wheel. The interior lights work. It has a complete set of factory seatbelts. New wiring harness.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's a high performance 454 built to L88 427 specs by a machine shop in Georgia. Reportedly the motor was blueprinted, has a forged cross drilled crankshaft, L88 spec rods, 12:1 compression, GM aluminum heads and a factory GM aluminum intake. Only 45 miles on rebuilt engine. On top is a dual feed Holley carb. It was completely taken apart, all the components were rebuilt or replaced. It has a cadmium plated power brake booster; the master was replaced. Correct curved neck radiator with reproduction hoses and clamps. Correct deep groove pulleys. It features power steering and a cowl induction air cleaner. The metal surfaces are painted nice. Correct spring clamp battery cables, squirters are hooked up, new wiring harness, hood insulation.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are smooth and glossy. Trunk floor is clean metal neatly spatter painted. It has new decals, weatherstrip and trunk mat. It's also complete with a restored rim on a matching reproduction tire. Reproduction jack assembly.

UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame; all the components were removed. The steering and suspension front and back were completely rebuilt. New brake system, disc in front. E-brake assembly, brake lines and hoses were replaced. Optional chambered exhaust system sounds great. The fuel system was replaced including the tank. Looking up at the motor it looks fresh. Correctly dated Muncie 4-speed trans. Correct 12 bolt rear with 3.73 posi. Clean metal floors. Overall painted and detailed nicely.

This is a cool representation of American muscle car history. It will take you right back to 1969, except the gas prices! During our inspection we spent $3,351 on service. We replaced the fuel pump, changed oil, replaced oil and temp sending units, repaired fuel gauge, replaced speedo gear inside the trans, fixed hazard lights, fixed headlight grounds, new blower switch, new wiper switch, new alternator and regulator, repaired window regulator, replaced pinion seal, new brake booster, bled brakes and adjusted timing.

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum.
