Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series The limited production "Black
Series" examples from Mercedes are built for those discerning
customers seeking an exhilarating driving experience with the best
performance equipment borrowed from the AMG racing division. Black
Series cars are extremely limited, and represent the most extreme,
distilled performance capable of a Mercedes-Benz chassis without
sacrificing cabin amenities, handling capabilities, and driving
aids. Today these cars are becoming highly collectible with the
newest generation of collectors pushing values to appreciate year
over year. The CLK 63 AMG Black Series was limited to just 500
examples produced for the global market and 349 for North America
during its three-year production run. The most visible change from
the normal CLK is the bodywork, which gained flared wheel arches
and the front and rear bumpers to go with, along with substantial
side skirts. The flared wheel arches accommodate a substantially
widened track: 3 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches in the
back, with wider wheels to go with. The result is a DTM-inspired
look that is so outrageous that it would look aftermarket were it
not for the tastefulness and high quality of the execution. The
chassis is strengthened with additional bracing around the engine
compartment and in the trunk, while weight is reduced by removing
the rear seats. The whole package is motivated by a fabulous 6.2
liter naturally-aspirated AMG V8 which produces 500hp and
magnificent large displacement V8 noises. The result of all these
changes is a much harder-edged car, both in terms of its visual
impact and its behavior on the road and represented a particularly
stark departure for Mercedes-Benz at the time. This example offer
here was delivered new to Mercedes-Benz of Newport Beach and
finished in Black over Anthracite leather with carbon fiber trim.
