Vehicle Description
Classic Car Addict is proud to present this awesome 1958 Rambler
Cross Country Wagon for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. Believed to
be actual miles at 26,805. Introduced in 1955, American Motors
Corporation new Rambler Six was a midsize family car designed to go
head-to-head with competitors from GM, Chrysler, and Ford.
Featuring distinct styling with a large center grill, open rear
fender wells, and rear tail fins, it was a sharp looker. The car
was sold under the Rambler brand and was offered in several body
styles. 1958 featured a few styling changes as well as new body
styles including the popular wagon, known as the Cross Country.
Jump into the driver's seat and this wagon really takes you back to
the 1950's! It features a newly reupholstered two-tone light blue
and dark blue interior with silver piping. Grabbing the large
steering wheel, you can see the original "cluster" that contains
speedometer, fuel, and temperature gauges. Ruby lights indicate
generator "charge", low "oil pressure" and "high beam". Look to the
left of the wheel and you have wipers, lights, defrost, and Weather
Eye heater. Look to the right and the original AM radio is still
present followed by a beautiful electric wound clock in front of
the passenger seat. You also have his/her cigarette lighters.
The exterior is very clean and mostly original, painted in a
two-tone turquoise robin and deep sea blue metallic paint. There
are a few imperfections here and there, but it is overall very
nice. The car is equipped with painted steel wheels with hubcaps
and has excellent chrome and trim as well. There were roughly
26,452 Cross Country wagons produced in 1958. This is the perfect
car for a collector, or the dreamer who wants to travel back in
time.
The 195.6ci six starts up as if it were new and moves off smartly,
winding through the gears of the three-on-the-tree manual
transmission. With its advanced- for-the-time unibody construction
- Nash was the first mass-produced automobile to employ this style
of construction, starting in 1941 - the Cross Country remains tight
and virtually rattle-free. This was the vacation car and was used
to travel around the country. Rambler Six's are getting scarce
these days, and this is one of the nicest and most original
examples you will find. The car has two keys, owner's manual, and
some additional items that will come with the vehicle (1950's
picnic baskets, extra interior pieces, carb, etc.).
