This is a concourse quality car with the awards to prove it. It has
won a second place at the Ford Nationals, AACA Junior, Senior,
Grand National, Grand National Senior awards and also the coveted
AACA James Melton Memorial Cup. 1 owner car until 1982, The 2nd
owner parked it for 10 years then restored it to factory new
condition. It was a trailer queen traveling to various shows
racking up a collection of trophies. He owned it until recently. It
also graced the pages of Muscle Car Review magazine.
Cyclone GT Specs: 81,135 Cyclones were made. Only 1,581 hardtops
were 390s with a 4-speed of which only 154 were red with red
interiors. The GT included a 390, twin scoop hood, blacked out
grill and tail panel, engine dress up, dual exhaust, HD fan,
handling package, 3.25 rear end, power disc brakes, stripes, and GT
wheels.
EXTERIOR: Stunning fit and finish and it's 30 years old! The body
is absolutely laser beam straight. No rust, no damage, no issues.
The gaps fit like a new Lexus. Even with the windows rolled up the
doors click shut. They come with a unique dual scoop fiberglass
hood. Repainted it's original Cardinal red and it's polished like
glass. Correct pinstripe and GT stripes. The glass is crystal
clear, the window frames sparkle. All the chrome trim was restored:
correct antenna, cool looking emblems, remote mirror and matching
passenger mirror. GT blacked out grill and tail panel are
excellent. Weather strips and seals were replaced. Correct GT
wheels look mint. New redline tires that look original but are
actually radials.
INTERIOR: Sharp looking factory red interior. I'm sitting in it
right now and it is like new floor to ceiling. Excellent carpet
with embroidered mats. The seats are reupholstered in the correct
materials which he went through great lengths to get. The center
console is mint and it has the correct reverse lockout shifter. In
front of me is a beautiful dash. The dash pad has been replaced,
the chrome instrument panel is restored, steering wheel looks
great. The gauges are mint and it has a factory tachometer. It also
has a factory AM/FM radio and down below is a vintage 8-track
player that does work. The door panels, armrests, window cranks are
all excellent. Up above the headliner and visors are pristine, it
also has a day night/mirror. Full set of red seat belts. Interior
lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original 390 motor has correct codes and
numbers. It was rebuilt, bored 30 over, has a little bit hotter
cam, 10.5:1 compression. New Pertronics ignition hidden in the
stock distributor cap. 320 hp and 427 lbs of torque. It has all the
stock manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner etc. The chrome is
sparkling. Correct Motor Craft wires, reproduction hoses and
clamps, cloth wrapped choke tube. It has a reproduction Autolight
battery bolted down properly. Every component looks factory correct
and restored like new. It does have power brakes. The washers are
hooked, correct Mercury head on the washer bottle cap. Clean metal
painted real nice. Hood insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is all clean metal painted red. Reproduction
mat, weather strip and decals. It has a 5th GT wheel with a
reproduction Wide Oval tire. Correct jack assembly is restored and
mounted properly.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath this car is restored to factory new
condition. All clean rust free metal with a very thin undercoat.
The GT comes with a performance suspension including bigger
swaybar, stiffer springs and shocks. The suspension and steering
were completely rebuilt and detailed. The brake system was
completely rebuilt, it has disc in front, e-brake is hooked up.
Correct dual exhaust system. The fuel system has been replaced.
Looking up at the motor it is spotless including the starter and
even a reproduction oil filter. The 4-speed is VIN # matching to
this car. The driveshaft is rebuilt. The rear end is restored and
detailed. Original 3.25 gears with it's original tag attached.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and repaired the horns and the remote
mirror, replaced a fitting on the brake booster and we added air
shocks.
I'm very impressed with everything about this car: it's looks,
rarity and condition!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
