Vehicle Description
This 1968 Plymouth Barracuda convertible restomod has a
cool/classic look, but it also doesn't take much to recognize the
heart of a true street-eating beast. Oh yes, this has a well-built
5.7-liter fuel-injected Hemi V8 and the control of a five-speed.
And more than just powerful, this restored drop-top has plenty of
added luxuries, including air conditioning.
Before diving into the beastly side of this Barracuda, let's
appreciate this car's first impression. When you know classics,
you're always looking for a Mopar convertible. After all, Chrysler
made the least of The Big Three, and drop-tops are always a rarity.
So this Barracuda is already desirable for being one of less than
2900 made in 1968. And its distinctness is furthered by a radiant
respray of Lime Gold paint. It has a nice metallic glow in the
sunshine, and the color also provides a nice backdrop for the
darker elements like the folding roof, grille, and Formula S-style
racing stripes. It has the clean look of a good classic, right down
to the panels' fit and the bumpers' shine. So it's desirable for
more than just the beast under the hood.
The black roof powers down to reveal a full black interior. So you
get a tasteful color combo with the op on or off. Like the
exterior, the interior wants to give the first impression of a
clean and nice classic. Even the factory AM radio is still there
for display. It's a well-done black package with plush carpeting, a
smooth dash, and good door panels. Plus, we love the look of the
front bucket seats with wide headrests. But this also ensures you
mix the right modern upgrades into the classic style. You have nice
comforts like cold-blowing air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD stereo
with USB input hidden in the glove box. And the driving experience
is upgraded with AutoMeter auxiliary readouts, a Budnik steering
wheel, an Ididit tilt column, and an extra gear on the shift
pattern.
The upgraded motor is the heart of this car's unique appeal, so
they ensured it was ready for primetime. You have smooth
color-matched inner walls, carbon fiber-dipped valve covers, custom
engraved chrome HEMI coil-pack covers, and plenty of polished
components. This is an awesome 5.7-liter fuel-injected Hemi V8 that
was professionally rebuilt only about 10k miles ago. It includes
Wiseco forged pistons, Wiseco chromoly GFX rings, Wiseco connecting
rods, a Comp Cams street/strip camshaft, a 6.1 intake, and long
tube headers. It's a terrific all-around power package, and the
Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission puts you in the center of
the action. Plus, features like subframe connectors, Mickey
Thompson Street SS rear tires, and power front disc brakes all add
to this feeling of confident control.
The sale includes restoration photos, spare components, and a
Diablo tuner module. This is the rare drop-top classic that has
some severe muscle within. Call now!
