Vehicle Description
You don't say the word 409; you sing four oooooh nine. The Beach
Boys taught us this was the motor that owned the streets, and Chevy
showed us the 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble Top coupe was the most
beautiful way to get it. So it only gets better when you have a
well-restored classic that gives you a terrific color combo, a
comfy A/C interior, an overdrive transmission, an upgraded
suspension, and a freshly rebuilt big block under the hood.
A bubble-top Bel Air is rare with the hallmark skinny C-pillar and
wraparound rear window. It's a rare design feature that has some
unique touches for 1961. In fact, it's part of a few exclusive
features - including the stamped dipping "V" in the trunk - that
make these particularly sought-after. This one really maximizes
that desirability with a bright red that radiates the right kind of
attention. And the contoured chrome bumpers shine with distinction.
Good body lines mean the full-length trim lines up nicely as it
wraps around the rear. And if you like the white streak on the
side, just wait till you see the interior! But more than just
vintage appeal, this one likes to hint at its custom and speedy
style. This includes the hood pins, dual aerials, and Loaded Dice
Speed Shop graphic on the rear window. And the polished American
Racing Salt Flat wheels have a great performance style, especially
with the added stance from larger rear tires.
The interior carries the same attractive red with white accent
theme as the exterior, and so it makes for a great reason to keep
all the windows down on this special hardtop. The idea was to keep
it classic while also making sure you have the best cruiser
upgrades. So you have features like a retro-style AM/FM stereo with
aux input to keep everyone entertained, and cold-blowing air
conditioning is there to make any road trip even more comfortable.
And you'll love the driver's setup, where a modern sports steering
wheel was given a retro-cool style, and it's even mounted on a
polished tilt column. You also have AutoMeter auxiliary readouts, a
B&M floor shifter, and a column-mounted horizon tach.
The engine bay loves to use the dark and slick inner walls to
funnel your attention to the upgraded heart in the middle. This is
a classic Chevy big block, but the ultra-tidy style signals an
investment in a rebuild within the last few years (and we're told
it has less than 250 miles on it!) This is enhanced with a Holley
four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and Hedman headers
feeding a nice-tempered dual exhaust. This also has the right
supporting components, like billet pulleys on a serpentine system
and a large aluminum radiator with electric fans. You can tell this
one was made to be powerful while also being a solid driver. That's
why other big investments were made at the same time as the motor.
It includes a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with
highway-ready overdrive. There's also a newer Global West tubular
A-arm front end, a rear sway bar, and KYB shocks. Plus, power
steering, power brakes, and front discs are all part of a terrific
driving package.
This is the iconic bubble top 409 that has been upgraded to be a
stunner and a runner. So don't miss an icon that will have people
singing your tune when you drive on by. Call today!!!
