Vehicle Description
Continuing to further provide excellence in the automotive industry
for over 70 years, Joe Basil Chevrolet has now expanded into
offering a complete line of premium classic cars to the buying
public to better serve your needs.
Beginning in the early 1900s, the automotive industry began to
rapidly expand. As a result, competition was plentiful in those
fledgling years. Many of the earlier manufacturers faltered and
closed their doors while others flourished by continuing to bring
new and fresh ideas to market. Among those of course, was
Chevrolet. As far back as 1917-1919, Chevrolet introduced an
aluminum V8 engine which at the time was something only normally
found in higher end luxury automobiles. Although the "split block "
V8 engine ultimately did not succeed, other competitors were
successful. In 1934, Ford began to market a flat head V8 engine
which was available through 1953.
With rapidly changing body styles, sleeker designs and demands for
more smooth power, Chevrolet announced their new sedan model in
1955 which was available in a 150, 210 and Bel Air configuration
and yes, a new 265ci V8 engine was also about to take the
performance world by surprise. The initial offering of the 265ci
engine ran for two years and was offered with a performance cam and
two four barrel carburetors producing 240hp before being further
upgraded to a 283ci engine in 1957. The 1955 through 1957 body
style which many refer to as the tri-five years, continue to this
day to live on in great favor.
This 1956 Chevrolet 210 coupe which is equipped with the single
four barrel carbureted 265ci engine and factory three speed
standard transmission is among the finest 1956 Chevys we have seen
in recent years. The low mileage body is laser straight with all
original sheet metal. The doors open and close as new with that
prominent click-click we all love to hear. The repaint in factory
Inca silver metallic is nearly flawless which instantly draws the
onlookers further attention. The chrome bumpers both front and rear
are in perfect condition and the only obvious deviation from
original stock appearance is the addition of amber lenses on the
two front turn signals.
Though the braking system has been updated to a dual master
cylinder power brake unit, the original power steering
configuration was retained.
The stock two tone upholstery appears clean, fresh and new
throughout and the dashboards only deviation from original is the
neatly installed in dash am/fm tape player. This truly outstanding
1956 Chevy comes with its own set of fender skirts and we believe
its quality and appearance will please the most discriminating
buyer. Are you that buyer? Come in and see, we believe this 56
Chevy will exceed your expectations.
