1991 Nissan Figaro imported to the US and featured with Jerry
Seinfeld on "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee."
Nissan created the Figaro in 1991 and only produced it for one
year. Created for the Japanese market to be another option in
addition to the kei-car segment, just a tab larger and a bit more
power than this segment allows. While most kei-cars were boring
econoboxes, the Nissan Figaro being a completely different vehicle
was an excellent alternative to the small car class. It was
designed to have fun while driving to your next destination. Nissan
made it for the customers who didn't want to drive boring cars. It
is a 4 cylinder turbo that could fit in the kei-car regulations and
created a culture.
The 1991 Nissan Figaro is a 2 door convertible/cabriolet-bodied car
with an inline 4-cylinder turbo motor powering the front wheels.
Its 1-liter engine is peppy with a single overhead camshaft. The
4-cylinder unit develops 76hp at 6000 rpm. The engine transfers its
power through to the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic
transmission. The Nissan Figaro weighs a claimed 1786 lbs and able
to attain a top speed of 103 mph making it cute and nimble.
This Nissan Figaro is not just about fuel economy but also has all
the comfort features you would expect in a car from today. First
lets start with the manual convertible top put it down and you have
endless nights of fun adventures. It has AC that needs a recharge,
leather seats, power windows, power assist brakes,
AM/FM/CD/Cassette player, and intermittent wipers. Only made in
1991, this Figaro is titled as a 1992. The Bright Red paint will
certainly make you stand out from the crowd, and it even comes with
a Red die cast model, and a Red Figaro pillow, a very cool touch
for car shows.
