Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is very pleased to offer
this well-crafted 2002 ERA 289 FIA Cobra. This incredibly done
Cobra replica (Chassis# 2044) is the handiwork of world renowned
ERA Replica Automobiles of New Britain, CT. The shop has a
reputation for turning out the finest replicas in the business, and
these four wheeled rockets are no exception! In fact, they are the
very spirit of the original lightweight FIA 289 Cobra roadsters
that dominated the American racetracks throughout the '60s. Powered
by a hard-charging 351 CID Windsor that was redone about 3k miles
ago and was fitted with a CompCams hydraulic roller cam, 1.6 ratio
roller rockers, Lunati roller link-bar lifters & topped with 185
AFR "Renegade" aluminum heads, a fresh Holley Sniper fuel injection
set up and a Holley dual Sync distributor that allows you to adjust
the timing from the drivers seat, this Cobra is very streetable and
ready to rock & roll! All of this is paired up to the Tremec T-56
6-speed manual transmission with a McLeod dual friction clutch,
giving the driver the absolute control that driving a Cobra is all
about. The dyno sheets on this ERA are showing this 351W pumping
out 518hp/490 lb.ft. at the flywheel & 425hp/402 lb.ft. at the
wheels, all in a vehicle weighing in at under 2600 lbs! The engine
note is heard out of the completely custom-fabbed 3" SS Magnaflow
exhaust and sounds exactly like a Cobra should. A powder coated
chassis, Jaguar IRS with a 3.54:1 Posi rear end complete with
inboard rear brakes,4 wheel disc, front & rear SPAX adjustable coil
overs, sway bars, chromed quick jacks and rack & pinion steering
are just a few of the features that make this ERA 289 FIA such a
pleasure to drive. The cabin is fitted with a must in a Cobra - 4
point shoulder harnesses for both occupants! A 14" wood Cobra
steering wheel, a 427 Street dash housing the high-quality Smith
gauges, a forward bent 427 style shifter, a relocated emergency
brake and the iconic chrome roll bar that has come to symbolize the
Cobras, along the classic PS Engineering Knock Offs wrapped in some
Mickey Thompson SR's in keeping with the original Cobra look.
Included along with the ERA 289 FIA Cobra will be all invoices,
build sheets & dyno sheets. Anyone that knows Cobra replicas know
how highly regarded these ERA 289 FIA's really are, and here is an
opportunity to get your hands on a really, REALLY nice one.
