Vehicle Description
This 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28 is quite an interesting car.
It's a first-year IROC done in a single-year color, and this even
has the desirable TPI fuel-injected V8 in its inaugural year. It's
truly a special coupe, and so it's great to see such a well-kept
two-owner example that comes with good paperwork.
The IROC Camaro is a true legend, and this is the one that launched
it. That's why we love to see it in Yellow Gold. It's quite a
distinct color today that feels like a hallmark color for 3rd gen
Camaros. It reminds us a lot of Daytona Yellow. In fact, just like
how signature colors like Hugger Orange and Daytona yellow were
only available for one year on the 1st gen Camaros, this Yellow
Gold was only a single-year offering for the 3rd gen. And the
uniqueness of this car has certainly been appreciated. It's coming
off a decade under the same owner, and he purchased it from the
original owner. So it has an impressively preserved style with good
body lines, bright alloys, clean glass, pliable weather-stripping,
and even the special paint shows all the right signs of being the
factory application. And while the low odometer is believed to
reflect the full mileage (averaging under 2k miles annually), the
total impression is that it feels like it has spent even less than
that amount of time outside of the garage. So it's easy to crisply
see this IROC Z's awesome style with the intimidating hood scoop
trim, blacked-out headlight buckets, and unique rocker stripe
package all contrasting boldly against the yellow.
And since we like the darkness against the yellow paint, the full
blackout interior was an awesome choice. Beyond just the right
color, this Camaro's interior is a great place to spend some time.
You'll slip into the high-back bucket seat that has the right
bolstering to be all-day comfortable. The factory three-spoke wheel
has been specifically developed for comfortable hand positioning
while still getting a clear view of the full gauge package. Like
any good IROC-Z, this one came loaded with power windows, power
locks, tilt steering, an electric rear window defogger, the Delco
AM/FM/cassette stereo, and provisions for air conditioning (it's
running modern R134a but will need servicing.) So there is an
interesting dilemma here because this car is so comfortable and
driver-oriented that you'll easily add plenty of miles to the low
odometer.
This was the year that the Camaro stepped up into an age of proper
power and technology. The new top-dog motor for 1985 was the LB9
305 cubic-inch V8 that features the throttle body injection seen in
the Corvette. This V8 is known for being smooth on the highway and
quick off the stoplight. And the IROC model is especially desirable
for the sports suspension upgrade. Add in the four-speed automatic
transmission with overdrive, power steering, and four-wheel disc
brakes, and you can see why this is one for collectors who like to
drive.
The sale comes complete with the factory buildsheet, a reproduction
window sticker, the owner's manual packet, a service manual, and a
car cover. It's impressive that such a significant and
well-preserved car is also so affordable. That's why you need to
hurry on this deal. Call today!!!
