Vehicle Description
1978 Chevrolet K20 3/4 Ton Pickup
In the past decade the C/K series of Chevrolet pickup trucks has
really shot up in popularity. There are entire clubs and shows
dedicated to purely this series of truck. Following the "Action
Line" series Chevrolet introduced the "Rounded Line" series for the
3rd generation in 1973. This generation would later be referred to
as "Square Bodies" by the public and media. These are great classic
pickup trucks and this 1978 is a K20 3/4 ton version. Since it is a
"K"20 it is also the 4 wheel drive model. This truck has been fully
restored and looks great. The build was started in 2018 and
completed in 2020. It has had 850 miles put on it since being
finished and prior to that it was a working ranch truck in Nevada.
It is all rust free and painted in a very slick gloss Black paint.
One feature that makes the truck very unique is the custom powder
coated Hillsboro Industries flatbed in back. Not only is it very
useful to have but also allows you to pull a 5th wheel behind it.
The bed has folding side gates and stainless steel storage boxes
along the sides. The truck has a great looking custom chrome grill
and the chrome front bumper is also in excellent condition. The
tinted glass has all been replaced and the weather stripping as
well. Due to its height, side steps are in place on both sides to
give easier access to the interior. The lights are all working
properly and on the flatbed multiple additional tail/brake lights
are in place. The truck rides on custom 20 inch Black Helo wheels
with locking hubs up front. The are wrapped with brand new Nitto
A/T Terra Grappler G2 tires.
Under the hood is a crate 350 V8 motor that has an estimated 5,000
miles on it. The truck runs extremely well and is fitted with
chrome Chevrolet valve covers, an Edelbrock air cleaner, Edelbrock
Performer intake, 4 barrel carburetor and a serpentine belt system.
Backing it up is a smooth shifting Turbo 400 automatic that was
rebuilt by Phoenix Transmissions in Texas. The truck has new drive
shafts and the rear differential was rebuilt. At 75 mph on the
highway it tachs around 3000 rpm. The entire suspension has been
redone with Rough Country N3 shocks/stabilizers and all of the body
bushings were replaced during the build. It was also fully rewired
with an American Autowire harness and the electrical is all working
properly. The brakes have been converted to 4 wheel discs and are
power. It has power steering as well making it a very nice truck to
cruise around in. It sounds great through the dual exhaust that
dumps right behind the rear end. The truck does have new dual gas
tanks but only 1 is currently connected.
The interior is completely new from top to bottom. It has very cool
TMI bucket seats with a custom center console. All of them feature
nice Black leather with Red stitching. You can tell it is a fresh
build because the upholstery is all in excellent condition. The
door panels, carpet, headliner, and even dash are all new. The dash
features a lot of the stock components but the gauges are all now
Dakota Digital Analog gauges with a carbon fiber face. It also has
an upgraded Alpine AM/FM/USB/Bluetooth stereo and Vintage Air
adjustable AC/Heat vents and controls. A new painted to match tilt
steering column has been added and is topped off with a very cool
Flaming River steering wheel with Chevy bowtie horn button.
This is a great looking truck that has a lot of really neat
features. Not only are these trucks popular but it has a lot of
pluses like the custom flat bed and the fact it is four wheel
drive. Whether you are just looking for a vintage square body or
need a solid work truck this thing is ready to handle anything you
throw at it.
