For Sale: 1996 Nissan Safari in St. Louis, Missouri
If you're in the market for a SUV that marches to the beat of a
different drummer, this Nissan may be your next candidate. It's not
an Armada or a Pathfinder, it's a seldom-seen Patrol, which was not
sold in North America. The Kingsroad trim was the top-of-the-line
available model in Japan.
This right-hand-drive, high-roof 4x4 was imported from Japan to the
United States in October 2021 by the selling dealer. This SUV is
dressed in Bluish-Green Pearl over Beige Pearl (code 6P7) with a
teal, gold and silver graphics package. The paint and trim are in
overall very good order showing some age on the decals and paint.
The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy,
the battery appears new, the chrome bumpers look great and fit
tightly to the body. There is a chrome front brush guard, Cibie fog
lights, wheel arch flares with mudflaps, running boards and two
sideview mirrors, front and rear. The rear bumper has been modified
to accept the larger full size spare tire.
This SUV rolls on BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A light truck tires,
size 255/85R16, at all four corners. Each tire, including the
rear-mounted spare, is mounted to a factory alloy wheel. The front
hubs are manually locking. The wheels and tires are all in very
good condition. This Patrol rides on a 94.5-inch wheelbase and has
a 5,534 GVWR. It has the following new parts - tires, brakes, shock
absorbers and oil pressure sending unit.
Under the hood is a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine (code
TB42E). Backing this motor is a four-speed automatic transmission
(code RE4R03A) plus a dual-range transfer case and 3.90:1 gearing
(code HG39). Driver convenience features include front and rear
air-conditioning, a rear heater, power steering, power four-wheel
disc brakes, power windows, power locks, power sunroof, a rear
refrigerated storage area, headlight wipers, side window
windscreens, tinted windows, inclinometer and altimeter.
Inside, there is a gray patterned cloth interior (code K) with wood
grain accents on the center stack and inner door panels. The front
buckets, second- and third-row bench seats are in overall very good
order, as are the matching carpet while the headliner is in
satisfactory order. A four-spoke leather rimmed steering wheel
faces the driver. The dashboard has a full suite of gauges but keep
in mind that the speedometer is marked in kilometers per hour. The
inner door panels are in similar good condition. The center
console, console-mounted shifter and transfer case knobs are
swathed in woodgrain. A sunroof and a factory AM/FM stereo with
cassette deck round out the interior. Sunroof operation works
erratically.
This survivor Nissan Patrol is a seldom-seen example, and you can
be sure if you buy it, you won't see another one at a local car
show or cruise night. Come by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to
check it out or yourself.
