Vehicle Description
As the name suggests, the President line was Studebaker's top trim.
It elevated cars like this hardtop into a premium price bracket.
You could walk into a Chevy dealer in '55 with the same money, and
drive out a top-of-the-line V8 Bel Air convertible... and still
have change in your pocket. That kind of higher status spent on the
President is instantly seen in the styling. This is one of the most
interesting years for Studebakers with a long front end that looked
like it was reaching out to the road with a chrome hand. And
there's even more terrific brightwork running the full length of
the car as a dividing line for the light green and olive in this
glossy two-tone presentation. And we even love the attention to
detail on the wheels where there's a touch of color-matched steel
peeking out from the classic polished hubcap - and it's all on a
wide whitewall. The interior is arguably even more impressive than
the exterior. A distinctly restored black and gold has a terrific
interwoven style anchored by the checkered cloth seats. And to top
it all off is authentic V8 power that makes for a nice cruiser and
a terrific engine bay to show off. So take some extra time looking
over this full package because they made sure to restore this rare
Studebaker to make sure it gets the attention and respect it
deserves.
