Vehicle Description
This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Wagon is part of the earned legacy of
ultra-robust German-engineered sedans. But it only takes a casual
glance to notice that this one is a bit different. It has been
tastefully modified over the years to resemble a European wagon,
and they even upgraded it to a four-speed stick (a combo never
offered to the USA!) And more than just distinction, this
cool/classic wagon is also loaded with all the best features -
including a sunroof and cold-blowing A/C.
If you love a wagon or a distinct Benz, this one immediately caught
your eye. It resembles a gray market import with tighter-fitting
bumpers, rear fog light, and flush-mounted headlights. But this is
a true California car; we have the window sticker to prove it. It
has just been given the right modifications to look like the car
you wish was available in the USA. The general upgrades fit nicely,
like the clear Euro-style turn signals and later Benz 16-inch
alloys. Even the upgraded teal blue paint looks era-correct. It's a
later color upgrade that strikes the right balance of a nice gloss
to show off the good panel fit while also making sure you think of
this more as a grocery-getter than a museum piece. After all,
Mercedes diesel wagons are a rare sight, so this deserves to be
seen out in the world so you can get the right stares from true
enthusiasts.
The interior is a tasteful palomino tan that looks quite inviting.
So you'll appreciate details like the smooth dash, newer carpeting,
and a nice look to the MB Tex upholstery. This has the space to be
a practical classic, and family and friends will happily come along
for the ride because this upholds Mercedes's reputation for premium
motoring. That means the best comfort features, like power windows,
cruise control, and a sunroof. This one has been upgraded along the
way with worthwhile pieces like an AM/FM stereo with USB and
Bluetooth and cold-blowing modern R134a air conditioning. And with
the cargo area looking so pristine, we bet you might even consider
buying this wagon as a business vehicle and using it to display
your products.
Under the hood is what makes the 300D so desirable. The Mercedes
diesel motors are the actual high mileage kings. They have one of
the best reputations for robustness in the industry, and the
2.9-liter turbocharged unit seen here was one of the most powerful
versions they ever offered for the series. So while it's unknown if
the odometer reflects the actual mileage, a well-maintained and
strong-running example like this is always desirable. These have
never been speed demons, but you already knew that. And that's what
makes the four-speed upgrade so alluring. The manual transmission
wasn't an option for the USA, so this Euro-spec stick shift helps
unlock some extra power and fun while giving you a configuration
you will likely not find elsewhere. And you're going to enjoy the
driving experience because this wagon was built to be a terrific
cruiser with fully independent suspension, power steering, and
four-wheel power disc brakes.
It's nice that the sale comes complete with the original window
sticker so you can show people at Radwood that this started life as
a USA-spec car. You also get nice extras like the owner's manual
packet and a set of stock wheels. This unique wagon offers
distinction, utility, luxury, and fun, so you know it's a deal that
will be moving quickly. Call now!
