Vehicle Description
2004 Hummer H2
A fun fact about Hummer is that the term is an abbreviation for
Humvee or HMMWV, which stands for High Mobility Multi-Purpose
Wheeled Vehicle. Before the civilian version hit the roads, Hummer
was a military-grade vehicle used to combat wars. The term explains
it. The action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger was a huge Hummer
fan. He wanted one for himself and petitioned AM General to build a
civilian version. By 1992, Schwarzenegger had the first civilian
version of the M988 Humvee in his garage. Hummer also embossed
'Terminator' on the action heroes SUV.
For consignment, a perfect example as the consigner states "only
original once". It has had 1 previous owner who was a non-smoker,
shows a title verified 43,090 actual miles, the truck is all in
working order, sports original paint, and has 4 new Continental
tires. All decked out with various guards and rails and in a
wonderful Sage Green. Ten HUT!
Exterior
Perfectly aligned straight steel body panels along with well minded
gaps are seen on this excellent low mileage example 4x4 right out
of the military. Sage Green paint from the factory and shining
brightly is on these panels. A wide high black bumper with a black
tube steel grille guard is leading the way through the brush and
badlands. Nice polished chrome is on the grille and some other
black trimmings, like the tinted window surrounds, luggage
rack, rockers, wheel well guards, and tubular heavy duty running
boards. The truck has a "beefy" look and is probably this writers
favorite version as it has a more aero look than the original wide
version and is larger than the H3. 4 doors, a flip front hood,
sunroof, and squared off back all add up to make it look
bulletproof, not unlike an armored truck. 17-inch wheels are
wrapped in new Continental rubber for the wilds or battlefield, (
commonly known these days as suburbia!).
Interior
Wheat, (off white), leather covers the interior surfaces which
include door panels and seats, the likes of which are front buckets
and a rear split back bench with a central armrest that doubles as
another rear seat. Between the front buckets is a wide console that
has a large tray for armrests, the billet styled upside down L
shaped shift lever and cup holders. As the dash rises to the center
all the comforts of home are here like the climate controls, 4x4
push button modes, trailer towing button, Onstar button and a
factory AM/FM/CD stereo. The instrument cluster resides in front of
the driver and is in rectangular form with round white faced sweep
gauges. The factory rally wheel is fronting the dash, and it has
various button controls for hands free conveniences. Doors house a
plethora of buttons and controls for the seat heaters, power
windows, mirrors, and locks. We note the front seats are also power
adjustable. Gray carpeting, which is like new, is seen throughout
the cabin and even in the back storage area it is in excellent
condition. Beautifully appointed for this rugged vehicle.
Drivetrain
Under the flip forward hood, is a clean engine bay within which
resides the 6.0 liter V8. It has EFI, and a 4L60E 4 speed automatic
transmission. Front and rear axles weigh in with a 4.10 ratio
Undercarriage
All clean and green...well black actually for this undercarriage. A
little road dirt and plenty of undercoating is present. Also seen
is the suspension which is made up of independent torsion bars
upfront, and independent coil springs for the rear. Power disc
braking is on all 4 corners.
Drive-Ability
Like slipping into a well appointed go anywhere military machine
all the creature comforts are here along with the rugged aspect of
this truck. It fired right up and off to the test track where I did
no 4 wheeling, but experienced good handling, solid braking and
nice smooth acceleration. All these convenience buttons were in
working order save for the driver's rear door window regulator not
wanting to make the window go up and down.
A wonderful heavy skate, with all the comforts of the vehicle
making it able to go places you would never dream, all the while
being able to doso with style and luxury. But it is available here
in our South Mallway... Nice paint and leather interior, it does
not get any more cushy while being tough.
