The pinnacle of Neo-Classic motoring is arguably the Zimmer Golden
Spirit, the flagship model for the Zimmer Motorcars Corporation. At
its peak in the 1980s, Zimmer employed a couple hundred people
people and generated $25 million in revenue. Evoking the opulence
of the "Roaring Twenties", Zimmers were factory built in Pompano
Beach, Florida, between the years 1979 to 1988. Country music icon
Willie Nelson bought the first of 1,500 produced. Zimmers can now
be found in countries from the U.S. to the E.U. and the UAE.
Ford supplied new Mustangs, which were then modified by stretching
the frame for a longer wheelbase and modifying the bodywork etc.
The Mustang VIN was retained as it met all the required US safety
features at the time. These cars were factory built starting with a
new Fox Body Mustang V8, providing incredible reliability, low
maintenance, ready parts supply and an vast network of
mechanics.
This is no kit car. The factory engineered Mustang's safety
features were retained and enhanced. The Recaro seats cost a small
fortune all by themselves, and they are covered in soft leather.
The instrument cluster is fitted to the dash in burled walnut
continuing the Great Gatsby upscale and sporty feel that the Zimmer
was perfect at portraying. The gold steering wheel has a wood
surround to keep everything feeling luxurious. and so it makes for
the kind of vintage cruiser that is a modern attraction. It has all
the luxury features, like power front seats, power windows, power
locks, a tilt steering column, cruise control, and air
conditioning. You'll love this custom luxury style, right down to

The Golden Spirit is powered by a 5.0-liter Ford V-8 engine and has
an automatic transmission with overdrive. The Zimmer is elegantly
appointed with a Nardi signature steering wheel and a wood center
