Shelby GT350 The Ford Mustang was a huge sales success when
introduced in the spring of 1964. However, Lee Iacocca, Ford
Division General Manager, was concerned that the Mustang, while
selling well, lacked a performance image and did not fit into the
Ford Division Total Performance marketing program. To correct the
image issue, Iacocca called Carroll Shelby and asked if he could
make the Mustang into a sports car with a winning performance
image. The result was the Shelby GT350. This latest Shelby American
performance car earned its sports car and performance image on road
race circuits across America. This 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350,
Shelby is a well-documented example verified in the Shelby American
Automobile Club Registry. Delivered new to Broadway Motors in
Kansas City, MO on 11/17/1965 it was converted into a B-Production
racer in the 1980s by Walt Hane, who won the 1966 SCCA B-Prod
national championship in a different GT350. Upon completion the car
was sold to well-known Shelby racer who entered the car in many
SVRA, HSR, and VSCCA races throughout the years notching a number
of group and class wins along the way. Recently it was given a
complete rotisserie restoration by a noted Shelby expert. The 289
cubic inch engine has 12:1 compression and titanium valves help
make a dyno proven 510 HP at 8000 RPM. The car has been
meticulously maintained by a Shelby specialist throughout the
current owner's time with over $120,000 in receipts. The suspension
includes Penske adjustable dampers and a center mounted roll /
torque link. A fire suppression system has been added for safety as
well as a FAST cool suit. Included in the sale is extensive
documentation on the car's race preparation and maintenance
history. This GT350 is highly competitive and has been granted SVRA
Gold Medallion status, ensuring the new owner entry at many
