here is a gorgeous 1980 Pontiac Firebird Formula which is rare with
only 8,111 Formulas produced in 1980. This Pontiac is in very nice
original condition and went through a cosmetic restoration in 2003.
Since then the Firebird has been kept well-maintained and remains a
real show-stopper. The body was originally treated to a Ziebart
rust-proofing treatment when new which has kept the body protected
from any rust damage. This car was repainted with the original
Montreux Maroon with Charcoal accents and the finish was
professionally applied over well-executed bodywork. The paint was
polished and buffed to a high luster and has been well cared for
and still shines brilliantly with very few chips in the paint.
Correct Formula accent decorations were applied after the
refinishing. The W66 Formula sport package includes dual hood
scoops, blacked-out glass moldings, reveals and related stainless
trim, dual sport mirrors with driver's remote and manual passenger
side, and a rear deck spoiler. Inside the cab is in very good
original, unrestored condition. The Carmine color carpet is
original and shows some very light wear but is still rich and
vibrant in color and protected by the factory original GM vinyl
floor mats. The Carmine checkered cloth velour seat upholstery is
original showing only some light wear on the front driver's seat
bolster welting. The dash and console vinyl are in equally
well-preserved condition and remain soft and flexible and free of
any cracks. Options include the Formula three-spoke steering wheel,
and the engine-turned aluminum dash trim holds the factory rally
gauge package with the clock. Other options include A/C, cruise
control, and Delco AM/FM stereo radio with front and rear dual
speaker system. Under the hood is the L37 301cid V8 that was
rebuilt in 2010 and features a performance camshaft upgrade and
Edelbrock electric choke carburetor. The engine compartment has
been well kept and looks darn close to showroom condition with
factory decals still present as well as the factory smog controls.
Power is transferred through a 350 GM Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed
automatic transmission that was serviced at the same time as the
motor. The power is transferred to the road via GU1 2.41:1 rear
axle and meets the road riding on a set of original Pontiac
honeycomb aluminum wheels wrapped in 225/70R15 BF Goodrich raised
white letter radial tires. Underneath as part of the Formula Sport
Package is the specially tuned suspension which features power
steering and power brakes with front discs and rear drums. The
suspension presents as well maintained with new stabilizers
bushings, and shocks. Unrestored, the subframe and floors are still
well coated from the original Ziebart treatment with no rust shown.
The exhaust dumps into a single catalytic converter that flows to a
rear-mounted transverse muffler that has dual outlets that exit
into chrome dual tailpipe tips. This car is a real head-turner with
its sporty looks that still look classy 40-plus years later. This
car is well documented with all the dealership delivery paperwork
and based on its originality is set to hold its value well as an
iconic and rare car of the early 80's era. Please call if
interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thanks for looking.
