Since its debut in 1966, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 has been a
very popular option for muscle car enthusiasts everywhere. With its
muscular body lines and very potent big-block engine, it is easy to
see why. Despite how capable these great muscle cars were in
factory form, there are always enthusiasts that are going to want
even more. That is exactly what we have here in this gorgeous 1966
Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Resto-Mod. This Chevelle started its life
as a true 138-vin Super Sport before becoming the show quality
resto-mod it is today. This amazing Chevelle benefits from a recent
and very extensive, frame-off restoration with many improvements
made to the Chevelle, while retaining a very factory exterior and
interior presentation. The show quality Aztec Bronze Metallic
exterior is in excellent condition and is complimented nicely by
its factory correct SS396 badging, factory chrome and stainless
trim and a set of American Racing 5-spoke wheels wrapped in newer
Firestone tires. The underside of the Chevelle has been finished in
the same Aztec Bronze Metallic as the top-side and is just as show
worthy. The factory-style Black vinyl interior is in excellent
condition and features some great options including factory center
console with factory tachometer, air conditioning w/ factory style
control and digital AM/FM stereo. The engine bay of this Chevelle
has received the same level of attention to detail as the rest of
the car and neatly houses a very potent and well-built, big-block
454 cubic inch V8. This very capable 454 V8 has been modified with
components such as Brodix aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake
manifold, Quick Fuel double-pumper 4-barrel carburetor, aluminum
radiator, dual electric cooling fans and Hooker super competition
longtube headers. Transferring power to the rear end is a Tremec
5-speed manual transmission equipped with a Keisler shifter. Both
the engine and transmission perform just as they should and deliver
a much more exciting driving experience than the original 396 was
capable of, while retaining very good street manners. The
suspension of this Chevelle has been upgraded with a variety of
Hotchkis suspension components that allow the Chevelle to put its
power down and handle the turns much better than a factory car
could. Aiding in bringing all this extra horsepower to a halt are
the upgraded Wilwood 4-wheel power disc brakes with drilled and
slotted rotors. This Chevelle 396SS Resto-Mod is very well equipped
with options such as: power steering, Wilwood power 4-wheel disc
brakes, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo, factory tachometer,
variable speed wipers and heater/defrost. If you are in the market
for a show quality, turn-key ready muscle car that is sure to put a
smile on your face on the way to the show, then you will want to
take a very serious look at this stunning 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle
396SS Resto-Mod.
