Vehicle Description
2002 Honda S2000 Roadster
The S2000 was in production from 1999 to 2009, and only had two
variants throughout its run. Initially, the 1999 to 2003 chassis
designation was called the AP1, featuring front and rear
double-wishbone suspension, a six-speed manual transmission, and a
Torsen limited-slip differential. For the F20C engine, it remains
one of the highest revving production engines ever made. With a
maximum piston speed of 25.2m/s, it is the fastest of all Japanese
cars. To visualize even further, imagine the S2000's pistons
traveling up and down at more than 90km/h. That is wicked. The
S2000's engine remains, to this day, one of the highest specific
power outputs for mass-produced naturally-aspirated engines, with
123.5hp per liter. It is only second to the Ferrari 458, which
produced 124.5hp per liter.
For consignment, a wolf in sheep's closing if you will in the form
of a Honda S2000 Roadster. Not often seen, this sporty convertible
is not foolin' around on the performance end, has great Mazda Miata
and early British sports take off on the looks end, and shows very
well in excellent condition and comes with an OEM fitted car cover.
A technical 2 owner car, (the first owner leased it, then bought
out the lease before passing it along to our consignor), a mere
41,264 actual miles have been logged on this all stock beauty, all
service records from 2018 to present are available but was always
serviced at the same dealership since new. It has new brakes
installed as well as new tires, and a new top were recently
installed. Incoming!!!! Bonsai!!!!
Exterior
With its wonderfully aero rounded design featuring the long hood,
and short rounded rear deck we see well minded gaps throughout his
sports car. It's all bathed in Sebring Silver Metallic and has a
nice new black canvas convertible top. Clean headlights, an open
grille and full neoprene bumper makes this car very light weight
increasing the power to weight ratio. Badging is all there and
looking good, and on the back I see Miata influences with large
dual exhaust tips peeking out from the bottom of the rear black
roll pan. 16-inch alloy wheels are covered with 205/50R16's in
front, and 225/55R16's on back. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em..and you
will I just know!
Interior
With top down I needed to put my sunglasses on as it is plenty of
blazing red leather covering all well preserved surfaces. From the
high back open headrest racing style buckets with their dual padded
roll bars behind them also covered in red padded leather, to the
curvaceous Playboy centerfold red dash with black backed instrument
cluster, it's pure sex inside. A red console races through the
chairs and has a black panel for the shifter, a few buttons, and
handbrake lever. That dash sports backlit digital readout speed and
mileage along with the temp and fuel gauge being digital. Below
this beautifully curved crescent dash is a brushed aluminum panel
with several knobs and controls for the drivers conveniences. An
AM/FM/CD player is behind a drop down hinged and dampened panel in
the center of the dash just above the console. Red carpeting is on
the floors and between the seat backs is another console/glovebox
in vertical configuration. A shout out to the trunk where some new
in the bag red carpeted floor mats are sitting within a gray felted
environment which is super clean and like new. MMMM mmmmm good!
Drivetrain
Under the hood is enough to make a Ferrari blush with the VTEC high
revving 2.0 Liter DOHC 4 cylinder engine. It puts out a whopping
240hp! It has EFI and on the back is a 6 speed manual transmission
to go through the gears on straight lines and curves. Way in the
back is a limited slip 4.10 rear axle.
Undercarriage
With its compact dimensions and low weight, the S2000 is such an
agile car. Honda employs an X-bone frame design to ensure
structural rigidity even though the S2000 does not have a
load-bearing roof. Independent double wishbone and coil spring
suspension provides the rails for the car to ride on, and to stop
this inertia new power disc brakes all around.
Drive-Ability
A push of the button and I'm off to the test track where it is
definitely a thrill ride. It accelerates seemingly endlessly,
handles great and is totally fun to drive. I got those revs up and
it sounded like the F1 cars of yore, in which the engine design was
inspired by the racing engine. All functions and mechanics were
working flawlessly.
Lots of WOW factor for the younger crowd on this car is it is
popular with drifters and track racers with its power to weight
ratio and high revving thrills. Also it looks just fab, so you
cannot go wrong, Go ahead pull that trigger!
