Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud to present for your consideration this
stunning 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS tribute. This Camaro rolled
off the Norwood assembly line in February of 1970 as an Astro Blue
car with a black vinyl top. 53 years and only 72,169 actual miles
later it has made it's way to our showroom - now dressed in a slick
coat of red paint and black racing stripes. The paint job is a good
one and we'd describe it's current condition as very good
driver-quality. The front of this Camaro is a real
attention-getter. The distinctive black grill with Z/28 badging is
flanked by round parking lights beside the headlights and gleaming
bumperettes surrounding on both sides of the grill. Underneath the
front end is a black chin spoiler that completes the aggressive
look. Moving around to the sides of the car you'll notice all of
the bright trim-work right away. The upper hood trim, window
surrounds, drip rail molding, door handles, and rocker molding all
shine in the light. Both sides have Z/28 badging on the fenders and
body-color side mirrors. Windshield wipers hide beneath the lip of
the hood just as they should on a RS. The rear of the car features
a one-piece rear spoiler on the trunk lid, a Z/28 badge, and 4
round tail lights with inner and outer trim rings (similar to a
Corvette of the era). This whole cool package rests upon grey steel
5-spoke factory wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial TA's. Under
the hood you'll find a clean and organized engine bay housing an
era correct, non-numbers matching 350 V-8 that just underwent a
$5,500 rebuild in April of 2022. Atop the engine is an Edelbrock
RPM Air Gap Intake, Edelbrock Carburetor, chrome air cleaner,
Edelbrock E-Street heads, and black valve covers with Red
"Chevrolet" script and bowtie. Exhaust flows through cerakoted
headers and newer mufflers and pipes to exit behind the rear tires
with a great sound. The V-8 is mated to a 4-speed Muncie manual
transmission that sends power to the rear via a 10-bolt rear with
2:73 gears - perfect for freeway cruising. Also notable under the
hood is power steering, a newer battery, and nice under-hood
matting. Stopping power comes from manual brakes with a dual
reservoir and a front disc / rear drum set-up. Open the drivers
door and a working courtesy light illuminates the all black
interior. This Camaro was born with a standard interior and still
has one today. The black vinyl Strato-bucket seats with squared off
seat backs and adjustable headrests are unique to 1970 models and
are quite comfortable. The rear seat is 2 bucket cushions and a
bench seat back due to the large transmission tunnel. Between the
front seats is a center console with armrest, storage box, Hurst
shifter with white shift-pattern ball, and storage caddy. On the
ceiling is a tight black vinyl headliner as well as dual visors and
coat hooks. The door panels are both in good condition and the
drivers side has an interior side mirror control. The crack-free
black dash houses a glovebox, an aftermarket Sherwood stereo
(inop.), an ashtray, and a gauge cluster with a speedometer,
tachometer, and clock (inop.) as well as gauges for amps, gas, and
temp. A SW oil pressure gauge has been mounted under the dash.
There is a switch for windshield wipers but they are currently
inop.. The driver is treated to a RS steering wheel. Floors are
covered with black hook and loop carpet kept clean by rubber Camaro
Z/28 floormats front and back. Back in the trunk is a vinyl
houndstooth mat, seat belts that have been removed, a fuel pump, a
packeage of light bulbs, and a binder containing an invoice from
the engine rebuild, some photos of the car, and brochures and
information about 1970 Camaros. All Camaro fans know that the 1970
model was the best of the second gen cars and a Z/28 - RS combo is
really as good as it gets. This tribute offers the stellar looks of
a split-bumper car, the fun of a 4-speed, and great freeway
driveability. All that this red beauty needs is a new owner to turn
the key and hit the road! Give our friendly staff a call today!
