This custom 1988 Land Rover Defender was stripped down to the
frame, which was sand-blasted and painted to prepare it for U.S.
roads, and new suspension components were ordered. The Defender 110
was then built on top of a fresh frame using brand-new parts. The
suspension components are all new, with new shocks. The steering
components have also been replaced with brand-new parts. Brand-new
body panels were ordered to ensure a flawless paint job. The doors
have been replaced, the hood was upgraded to a Puma-style hood and
the wheels were replaced with Wolf wheels and brand-new tires were
installed. Once the new body panels were installed, the truck was
repainted in Arles Blue, a traditional Land Rover paint code. The
roof and wheels were repainted in Alpine White. The interior of the
Defender has sound-deadening material and is finished in a new
headliner with new gray carpet. The seats and dashboard have been
reupholstered in a dark brown leather, with fabric accents in the
seat and center cubby box. The interior has been refinished with a
new air-conditioning system, power windows, power locks, Bluetooth
audio and backup camera, as well as new trim pieces, window seals
and door seals. The engine has been upgraded to a highly desirable
300 TDI engine, which has been completely refurbished and rebuilt
with new valves, pistons, head gasket, turbo charger, seals,
camshafts, cylinder head and more. The Defender has a new starter,
alternator, battery, intercooler, radiator and other various
components. The transmission has been rebuilt and upgraded to an
R380 transmission with new synchros, gears, clutch and pressure
plate. The VIN numbers match for the frame and firewall. The
headlights and taillights have been upgraded as well, and the Land
Rover features LED lighting, as well as a newly installed front
grille and roof rack.
