1969 Chevrolet Camaro - Frame Off Custom Build - 427/525 HP ZL1
Aluminum 50th Anniversary V8 - Engine no. 411 Of 427 Produced -
Tremec 5 Speed Manual Transmission - Daytona Yellow Exterior -
Custom Houndstooth Interior Featured here is a 1969 Chevrolet
Camaro SS that has been upgraded with a GM Performance Parts
Anniversary RPO ZL1 427 V8 and a few other subtle upgrades creating
a very special, stock-appearing restomod build. Painted Daytona
yellow with black hockey stick stripes, this Super Sport Camaro is
a real head-turner with plenty of go that backs up all its show!
This is an older frame-off restoration that left no bolt unturned.
The bodywork was professionally executed and well-prepped before
the Daytona Yellow paint was applied to a better-than-factory
finish that was polished to a high luster. The correct SS black
stripes and new Super Sport factory emblems have been applied. The
correct rear deck spoiler and SS hood with chrome louvers are also
present. Correct for the SS cars the front bumper is painted body
color and features the correct vacuum operated hide-a-way
headlights. The rear bumper chrome and related body stainless
molding has all been restored and shines with a flash of high
brilliance. The trunk space has been restored to factory condition
with the correct houndstooth floor mat. Within the cabin, you will
note this Camaro has been fully restored featuring the optional
houndstooth seat upholstery and factory-correct GM/Chevrolet floor
mats with the Bowtie emblem. The factory gauges feature the AC
Delco 120 MPH Speedometer and Tachometer, center dash-mounted
clock, and center console gauges. The stereo has been upgraded to
an Alpine AM/FM/CD player with 45 watts per channel that powers the
front kick panel location speakers and rear package tray 6X9
speakers. Under the hood sits the GM Performance parts Anniversary
427 CID Big Block V8. This engine is a commemoration of the
original RPO ZL1 427 V8 installed in special order COPO Camaros
back in 1969. This factory-prepared engine generates 430 HP with
444 Ft. lbs. of torque and includes all the supporting factory
paperwork to substantiate the authenticity of this amazing
powerplant. The engine compartment is clean, well-detailed, and
ready to show. The ignition has been upgraded to a GM HEI that
lights the air-fuel mixture from a Holley Double pumper carburetor.
The spent gases flow through a set of stainless-steel headers back
to a dual exhaust that features electric cutouts that with the flip
of a switch opens the exhaust system to open headers. Power is
transferred into a TREMEC 5-speed manual transmission back to a
12-bolt limited-slip rear differential. The underneath of this car
has been completely restored, with new fuel and brake lines,
suspension bushings, and related steering components. Features
include front and rear stabilizer/anti-roll bars, power steering,
and power brakes with front disc and rear drum brakes. With some
light detailing this car could be show-ready and still presents
fairly fresh. The car tracks and handles well rolling on 15 steel
wheels painted body color and capped the COPO correct poverty
hubcaps rolling on era correct Goodyear Polyglass GT tires. There
really is nothing like driving a big American V8 backed by a manual
transmission. With limited production and market-topping values,
even if you could afford a real COPO Camaro, you most likely would
never drive it wanting to protect your investment. However, with
this car, you can experience the legend at a very affordable price.
