For Sale: 2009 Ford Crown Victoria in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

2009 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor Sedan

Valued for reliability, durability, and performance, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria sedan. This vehicle was introduced in 1990, and sold from 1992 to 2011. It was widely used by police departments and other law enforcement agencies in North America during those years, including the New York City Police Department, Los Angeles Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was based on the Ford Panther platform, the same platform used for the Lincoln Town Car and Mercury Grand Marquis. Designed to meet the specific needs of law enforcement agencies, it included features such as heavy-duty suspension, a powerful engine, and a reinforced frame. During these early years, the first generation of the Police Interceptor was equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produced 190 horsepower. The second generation came in 1998 and featured a more powerful 4.6-liter V8 engine that produced up to 200 horsepower. The second generation of the Crown Vic Police Interceptor was introduced in 1998 and remained in production until 2011. Like the first generation, the second was based on the Panther platform and shared many components with other Ford automotives.

Break out your badge, ticket book and mirrored sunglasses cuz it's time to pull over some speeders in this fresh through our doors 2009 P71 Police Interceptor Crown Victoria. A former part of the Monmouth County NJ police department running you down on the Garden State Parkway in its undercover "Street Appearance Package", with dark tinted windows, a new air conditioning system and having been fully sorted out with a recent PA state inspection and emission stickers. Little has been changed since the curved shaped redesign from 1992 and this example runs nicely, has clearly been well maintained and provides its passengers with a classy comfortable ride...that is unless you end up in the shiny bracelets in the back seat.

Exterior
A presentable coating of Performance White paint coats the exterior steel panels that are straight and mind their gaps throughout. We note some dings and dents in the body along with invasive rust in thedriver's front quarter panel. In front, a nice chrome egg crate grille is flanked by aerodynamic built-in headlights, parking lights and turn signals that nowhave been LED converted. Badging is correct and clean on the grille as it flows rearward following a long hood back to a large 4 door passenger compartment. We see some white and chrome door protector trims down low along with some rust staining on the driver's rear lower door. The rear "C" pillar slopes gracefully downward and has an opera window which allows the rear seat passengers to watch the world go by. Tinted glass with chrome highlighting trim wraps the passenger compartment and we note plugged holes on the roof and driver's A-pillar from the former light bar and spot light. A spacious trunk, rounded integrated tail lights, and a body matching wrap around bumper complete the exterior. Brushed finish 17-inch multi-spoke aluminum wheels are all around and are wrapped in nearly new rubber from the 5th week of 2022.

Interior
Up front, a certified calibration analog dash in black with white lettering sits within a dark gray plastic frame with more charcoal plastic below. More charcoal plastic takes over for the lower dash and conveniences such as the climate control, an AM/FM electric clock, power windows, power mirrors, and power door locks are noted. We note a few added holes in the dash from the now removed police equipment. Gracing the area between the front door are spacious buckets clad in checked charcoal tweed broadcloth, and a large spacious vinyl wrapped bench sprawls across the back. A few stains and slight tearing is noted in the driver's bucket and straddling the hump in the middle is an added console with a deep storage compartment and twin cupholders. Black texture vinyl matting floods the floor and is in overall good condition, and the headliner is stretched tight, and is very clean. Utilitarian, but very plush and comfortable.

Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter SOHC fuel injected V8 sits within the engine bay and shows well with a little corrosion and a covering of dust from age. It is connected to a 4-speed automatic 4R70W transmission which sends power rearward to a Ford 8.8" axle weighing in with 3.55 gears and TracLoc.

Undercarriage
Presenting as clean, this undercarriage shows some surface rust only on uncoated steel surfaces. Floor pans, toe kicks and frame are all fairly rust free and covered in an application of the factory Performance White paint. We note some heavy surface rust on the lower front of the fuel tank along with heavy invasive rust on the driver's rear door underside. The rockers as well have succumbed to invasive rust, and while this cannot be seen from the exterior due to the black rocker moldings, a few taps on the plastic cause rusted steel to fall from the car. Providing the luxurious and pursuit worthy ride is an independent coil spring suspension in the front and a 4 link with coil springs on the rear. Power disc brakes are noted on all 4 corners as is power steering. Dual exhaust quiets down the 4.6 liter to barely a whisper and is the original equipment.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter all did very nicely on our test drive, had my crack decoder and dear friend been along on the drive I would have cuffed him and stuffed him in the back before hauling him off to our well hidden Classic Auto Mall jail cell. All smooth ride, shifting, and acceleration. Ease of operation is a definite plus for this big skate and all functions were working swimmingly at the time of our drive.

A well maintained former patrol version of the Crown Victoria. If you are looking to slow the speed of traffic on your daily commute then you need to come into the halls of Classic Auto Mall and have a look at this interceptor. It's led a good life and is ready to perform for you and yours. Now where's the nearest Dunkin Donuts?
