#s matching, Pontiac Historical documented. This is an extremely
rare car 428 H.O. 4-speed convertible. It's from the estate of a
gentleman that collected rare full size cars with 4-speeds only. He
treated it to a professional, body off frame restoration done.
These cars were his passion, it was restored with pride, not to
resell.
1967 Production #s:
420,000 full size Pontiacs made
1,768 were 2+2s
286 2+2s were convertibles
385 HO 428, 4-speeds were made total in all full size Pontiacs
which is only .0009%.
How many were in a 2+2 convertible?
How many still exist? This may be it!
EXTERIOR: Professionally restored at a very reputable shop I am
personally familiar with. They took the body off the frame and made
it look like new or better. It is laser straight everywhere with
excellent fit. No rust, damage or body work showing. Repainted it's
original Tyrol Blue color but it didn't look this good new. It is
laid out evenly and polished like glass. Rechromed original
bumpers. New emblems, polished stainless. It has a hood tachometer.
Weatherstrips and seals were replaced. New windshield. The
convertible top was restored, there is a tattered edge in back
(picture 36). The rally ll wheels were repainted and have correct
lug nuts and caps.
INTERIOR: Beautiful pearl white upholstery. Door panels, armrests
look like new. The dash area is in excellent shape. It has factory
gauges, original radio. Rare 4-speed console with a Hurst shifter
sticking out of it. Reproduction deluxe wheel on a tilt column.
Carpet looks new, reproduction mats. Seats were recushioned and
upholstered.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Ultra rare H.O. 428-376 hp. This is the
original motor, the unit number is stamped on it and matches the
PHS documents. The engine was completely rebuilt and we have the
spec sheet. Balanced and bored, replaced pistons, bearings, valves
etc. It has a professionally restored correct carb. Stock valve
covers, air cleaner, manifolds, brackets, pulleys etc. All the
components were restored. Reproduction hoses, clamps and battery
cables. It features power steering. All the metal surfaces are
painted neatly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb are painted slick.
Inside is solid metal neatly spatter painted and clear coated for
durability. It has reproduction mat, tire cover, well liner and
weatherstrip. Jack and spare assembly. Trunk light works.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the chassis. The steering and
suspension were completely rebuilt. The brake system was all
rebuilt, lines were replaced, e-brake is hooked up. The fuel system
was replaced including the tank, straps, sending unit and fuel
lines. It has a factory style dual exhaust system with turn down
tips. Looking up at the motor it is clean Pontiac blue with a high
torque starter. The original dated Muncie 4-speed was gone through.
It has a Center Force clutch. Original Saf-T-Track rear end. The
floors are rust free. They were prepped and painted semi gloss
black.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and it passed with flying colors. All
we had to do was lube the steering column bearing and speedo
cable.
Here is your chance to own an extremely rare and desirable Pontiac.
It's a quality car restored by very qualified people.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you
will be given a 1 year membership.
