<font size = "4">The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s
The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final
evolution of the storied air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993
boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned
from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet
distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort
and accessible performance. The C2S uses the same wide body as the
coveted 993 Turbo but retains the purity of the 911 with only rear
wheel drive and a 6-speed manual transmission. With an incredible
amount of mechanical grip, boasting all of the updates to the 993
platform and a direct driving experience with enough power to get
into trouble with, the 993 Carrera S is a fantastic performer in
all conditions.
This Guards Red over black leather Carrera S was reported to have
been purchased in Fort Worth, Texas, in June of 1997 from Autobahn
Motorcars. Optioned with an AM/FM radio with CD player, sport seats
painted to match, 5 open CD holders in console, metal door sills
with the Carrera S insignia, motor sound package, racing style
sports seats, and the Hi-FI sound package with 10 speakers, this
Carrera S had an MSRP of $68,890. This owner had the car until
approximately June of 2022 after driving it 2,000 miles, where its
next owner would bring the car out to the West Coast in Oregon.
Over the course of 14 years the Carrera S would reside in Oregon
and see two owners, adding approximately 7,200 miles to the
odometer.
The most recent owner purchased the car from an owner in Virginia,
who had acquired the car from the last Oregon owner. He described
it as a fantastic car that was a part of his collection for
approximately 3 years, during which he installed Bilstein shocks
and lowered the car to the European ride height to accentuate the
already classic styling of the Carrera. He described the car as a
perfect example of a C2S and how original the car still was after
26 years. During his tenure he only added approximately 1,000 miles
to the Carrera before it arrived at Canepa.
Taking one look at this Carrera S would be enough evidence for the
casual enthusiast to know that it had been lovingly maintained over
the course of its history. The Guards Red paint finish is in
excellent condition, the black leather interior presents
excellently with the rare and stunning Racing Sports Seats with
matching Guards Reds painted seat backs, and overall the car drives
with and inspires confidence as it was designed by Porsche. This
comes down to its past meticulous owners who clearly had the
mindset of maintenance and preservation.
With only 10,354 miles on the odometer since its completion at
Stuttgart more than 25 years ago, the car presents as if it is a
new car. Its original Guards Red paint finish is in incredible
condition, along with its black leather interior presenting in
fantastic condition. The car was treated to the "Canepa Difference"
process, going through a complete mechanical and cosmetic
inspection. A concours-level detail was performed, cleaning every
square inch of the car from top to bottom. After cleaning, the
underside of the car looks in as-new condition, evident in the
underside photographs. The original paint finish was then polished
with foam pads to a beautiful sheen that would have rivaled the car
upon delivery when it was new. Given a clean bill of health, this
1997 Porsche Carrera S will bring endless enjoyment and comfort to
its new driver and occupants. With its sophisticated powerplant and
appointed with the finest materials, this last iteration of the
air-cooled 911s will continue to provide driving and investment
nirvana.
