Vehicle Description
Shelby American rocked the performance world when it put the nimble
Shelby 289 Cobra on steroids to create the 427 Shelby Cobra. With a
computer designed independent suspension, more robust frame,
voluptuous bodywork and enormous powerplant, the 427 Shelby Cobra
was mind-blowing.
In 1996, Shelby American began offering the big block Shelby Cobras
again; CSX4980 is one of these exclusive sportscars. This Shelby
Cobra 427 is a durable fiberglass bodied CSX4000 series roadster,
clad in Guardsman Blue with traditional Wimbledon White stripes and
roundel. Its heart-warming history includes being a Ronald McDonald
House Raffle Car that raised money for the charity.
Key details include quick jacks and a polished driver side roll
bar, as well as a polished stainless steel header tank. The car
features ceramic coated side pipes, 15? Halibrand-style knock-off
wheels with BF Goodrich tires, Wilwood disc brakes, coil covers,
and more. Built by the Shelby Engine Company, 468 C.I.D. V8 is
connected to a robust Tremec 5 Speed and then to an OEM style alloy
differential unit with 3.54 gears.
Low-back bucket seats are trimmed in black. The wood-rimmed
steering wheel is offset nicely by Smith and Lucas gauges; the dash
was signed by the great Carroll Shelby before he passed away. The
Shelby even includes the optional tonneau.
Shelby Cobra CSX4980 has 338 miles and is titled as a 2008 Shelby
in Michigan. CSX4980 is available for $199,950.
