For Sale: 1974 AMC Gremlin in Grand Rapids, Michigan
1974 AMC Gremlin - Beautiful Survivor - Orignial 232ci I6 - 3 Speed
Manual Transmission - Original A/C Car - 91k Miles - Repainted
Sierra Orange Exterior - Black Interior Pop culture has made
Gremlin a fun moniker, especially when it comes to the AMC economy
cars. The AMC was a bit of an odd looking car, and came complete
with a funny little character which seemed to help take away
negative connotations of a Gremlin. It's an odd name for a car that
AMC advertised as a solution to inflation, economical, and a car
that AMC believed would help relieve the fuel shortage, or at least
the amount of fuel Gremlin owners would use compared to other makes
and models. The vehicle you see here is a 1974 AMC Gremlin finished
in Sierra Orange over a black interior, with a 232ci Inline 6 under
the hood. The car currently shows approximately 91,292 miles on the
mechanical odometer. Despite having a funny name, this Gremlin was
well cared for, and clearly a special car to someone. The car is
highly original, other than a complete repaint in the original
color of Sierra Orange. The paint is glossy and in very nice
condition as it envelops the Gremlin's interesting shape. A black
graphic which runs along the side of the car and swoops up the
c-pillar of the car gives a little contrast to all the orange.
Chrome trim throughout is in very nice condition, showing a little
age and wear on the roof rack and door handles. Painted steel
wheels with beauty rings and hubcaps are wrapped in white letter
BFGoodrich tires. The interior is an exercise in simplicity with a
simple steering wheel, a simple radio, a few knobs, and a bench
front seat that at first glance looks as though it would be two
bucket seats. You'll notice that there is a little discoloration on
the side trim in a few small spots, and that the driver's side seat
back has a seat cover on it. The dashboard, door panels, and
carpeting are in very nice condition, and with a close look at the
dashboard you can see the optional air conditioning unit that is
trimmed with faux wood panels. Pretty fancy for a mid-'70's economy
car! Under the hood is a 232ci Inline-6 engine that is mated to a
3-speed manual transmission. The engine bay is tidy, with the main
focus when peering under the hood being the blue painted engine.
The underside of the car shows dirt and surface corrosion as you
would expect from a very well cared for and highly original '74
Gremlin. We hope that such an iconic well cared for car like this
Gremlin will bring smiles to the faces of anyone that comes in
contact with it. A negative connotation of Gremlin is not what this
car represents. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific
questions. Thanks for looking.
