The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro was produced by Chevrolet
from 1970 through the 1981 model years. It was introduced in the
spring of 1970. Sales for 1979 were the highest ever for any
generation Camaro before or since, numbering 282,571 units.
GM engineers have said the second generation is much more of "A
Driver's Car" than its predecessor. The completely restored 1979
red with gold stipes Chevrolet Camaro Z28 we have here at Skyway
Classics is a great restored example of that which looks even
better today than it did back then.
Ours has even been a feature article in Hemmings Muscle Machine
Magazine that we have a copy of along with a binder of receipts
with thousands of dollars of parts that went into this
restoration.

Mechanical
Under the hood is the 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet V8
engine rated at 255 horsepower as noted by the L code in the VIN#.
This one runs and sounds great with the dual exhaust system running
out the back.
The motor sits in a clean engine compartment and features a factory
black air cleaner with the correct 350 decals, blue painted engine
block, heads, and intake, 4-barrel carb, power steering, air
conditioning, power disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear,
round tubular headers flowing the spent gasses out to the dual
exhaust, and it is mated to the automatic transmission and H.D.
10-bolt rear end with the chassis as clean and detailed as the
engine compartment.
It rides on factory gold and polished spoke Z28 wheels and BF
Goodrich Radial TA raised white letter performance tires.
Interior
As part of the restoration, the entire interior has that new look
starting with the tan twin front bucket seats and matching rear
seat, center console with the automatic shifter and black shifter
knob, pushbutton stereo/cassette radio system, air conditioning,
tilt factory tan 4-spoke steering wheel, factory gauges in the
matching tan dash, tan carpets, floor mats, and seat belts.
Exterior
The Z28 has a fresh coat of slick red paint that really shines,
flowing over the body panels which are straight, the scooped Z28
hood, and rear spoiler, with the "Z28" stripes and decals that ran
from the beginning of the front flares to the bottoms of the
doors.
It has a front spoiler and fender flares much like its Pontiac
Trans Am twin had and the rest of the fit and finish is great as
well with the sounds coming out the dual exhaust than combines the
finish, appearance, and attitude of our Z28.
