Exhaust Cutouts Ford's marketing for the Galaxie 500 for the '66
model year mentioned luxury, value, and an extremely quiet ride.
This Galaxie in particular is just the ticket for not only a luxury
car from the 1960's, but a vintage car that is in great condition.
Perfect for cruises, this car is ready to enjoy top up or top down.
The car you see here is a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible
finished in Silver Blue over a blue interior, and capped with a
white convertible top. 352 badging that features checkered flags,
and Galaxie 500 badging are a few hints that this car was equipped
as a sportier model than a standard Galaxie. In an era when the
sporty model or special models were only discernible by badging a
lot of the time, those small details are important. This car has
chiseled lines throughout, especially noticeable near the tail
lights and the headlights. Providing contrast to the special
badging is the Silver Blue paint, which is glossy and even
throughout. Body panels line up as they should, and chrome trim is
in very nice condition. Cragar wheels wrapped in white letter tires
keep with the sporty trend. The convertible top is in very nice
condition as well, it has a few wrinkles from being stored, but we
hope that the convertible top is an afterthought for the next owner
of this car. Trips in this car with the top down are great. This
Galaxie left the production plant well into the era of Ford using
upscale words like, Emberglo, Ivy, Venetian, Parchment, and Beige
to describe interior color options. However, this car came with a
much simpler name of Light Blue vinyl interior, and a bench seat at
the front meant that a column shifted Cruise O Matic transmission
was to be the transmission of choice. The interior also features a
sweeping speedometer, clock, faux-wood trim, AM radio, wood-rimmed
steering wheel, two tone door panels, and reupholstered seats. A
352ci V8 is under the hood of this classic, which provides plenty
of power, and a nice soundtrack. If you don't feel like sneaking
around, the car has electronic exhaust cutouts just aft of the
exhaust manifolds, so you can be sure that your neighbors hear the
V8. The engine bay is tidy and features chrome valve covers, and a
chrome air cleaner cover. The Ford Cruise O Matic transmission has
been rebuilt. As we've mentioned, top down cruising in this car is
great. It's a car with an unforgettable, out of this world name, a
V8 under the hood, luxurious interior, and sporty 1960's styling.
This is a car that will grab any vintage car fan's attention.
