Details
This 1969 Corvette is powered by a 427ci V8 (L-71) with the L-89 option. Power is fed through a manual four-speed transmission and delivered to the rear wheels via the 3.55:1 Positraction differential. The L-71 427ci V8 with a rare L-89 aluminum cylinder head option and intake topped with three Holley model 2300 carburetors have always been a rare option. Only 390 L-89 Corvettes rolled off the assembly line in 1969. According to the owner, the car was restored in 1995 in the factory Fathom Green color accompanied by Saddle vinyl upholstery. This unique unmodified Corvette was fitted from the factory with T-top removable panel roof, N-14 side-mounted dual exhaust, disc brakes, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, 3.55:1 Positraction differential, and a horn alarm system. The owner has original paperwork and documentation from four preceding owners, and the car currently resides in Old Westbury, New York.
As evidenced by the third-party inspection and the third-party photos taken, the car was restored in line with its original factory specifications. The exterior shows little to no flaws, and the interior is in matching condition. The vehicle's mechanics are sound, and the owner does report that the odometer has rolled over to 112,251 miles. However, the true mileage is unknown. The inspection rated the interior and exterior of the car at a 5 of 5. The owner also reports that the unique 427ci V8 is original to the car, and primarily, original parts were used during its rebuild. Included in the sale are multiple documents related to the history of the car as well as service records and 1 set of keys.
This Corvette is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Old Westbury, NY.
About the model
The third generation Chevrolet Corvette, also known as the C3, was a sports car produced from 1967 to 1982 by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and chassis components were mainly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new. C3 Corvettes were available in convertible and T-Top body styles only, with the T-Top having two removable rooftop panels (note that many T-Tops are described as 'coupe'). The C3 set new sales records, with 53,807 produced for the 1979 model year. The C3 marks the second time the Corvette would carry the Stingray name, though only for the 1969 - 1976 model years. This time it was a single word instead of Sting Ray for the 1963 - 1967 C2 Corvette. The name would then be retired until 2014, when it was re-introduced with the release of the C7. Production of the third-generation Corvette lasted until 1982 when the Fourth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C4) debuted.
