New to our Pleasanton showroom is this highly impressive 1979
Mercedes Benz 450SL 2 Door Convertible with gray exterior paint and
an immaculate black leather interior. You'll find a 4.5L V-8 engine
under the hood that's paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission,
and this particular example is nicely optioned from the factory
with power locks/windows, cold A/C, and the original factory
'Becker Mexico' stereo/cassette player.
Highly Original W/ 21,032 Original Lifetime Miles
The current owner informs us that his father purchased this
beautiful '79 Mercedes Benz 450SL brand new in 1979 from a local
Bay Area dealership, and kept this car at his home in Alameda
California where it was always garaged and resided prior to being
brought to our Pleasanton, CA showroom. Sparingly driven a mere
4,800 average miles per year, this SL drives as impeccably as you
would expect; excellent acceleration from the 4.5 liter V-8 and
crisp shifts from the original drivetrain enhance the great driving
experience from this classic Mercedes Benz roadster. With such low
mileage and thoughtful driving over the years, minimal maintenance
and repairs were required, therefore, there isn't much in repair or
maintenance records other than oil changes, new tires, and
bi-annual California smog inspections for registration. A respray
of the original gray exterior paint was done within the last couple
years to freshen things up and correct some fading to the trunk lid
and hood.
In terms of physical condition, this 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL 2
Door Convertible shows well in person with excellent body lines and
very nice paint. The original chrome and trim are also in great
condition with minimal blemishes, and the factory interior and
leather are in essentially like-new condition. There is some
oxidation to the chrome knock-off rims and surface areas of the
engine components due to unavoidable salt air over the years from
the proximity to the San Francisco Bay, but nothing on the body or
undercarriage suggest any rust whatsoever.
