1971 Volvo 142S
1971 Volvo 142S 2-door sedan, it's only been driven about 400 miles since August 2019. Rebuilt B18 with about 90K mi, out of my '65 1800. Bosch breaker-less ignition, out of a '75 240. M41 D-type overdrive transmission, out of my '65 1800. Rare factory "overdrive" dash indicator. Even rarer, is the recently-added NOS "overdrive" badge.
Rebuilt 4:56.1 rear-end. Delco S10 1-wire alternator swap, including custom-reinforced SWEM mounting bracket
Unique 15" reproductions of Volvo "Scorpius" rims. Factory-correct interior kit, supposedly direct from Volvo Sweden, installed 2 previous owners ago, still in great condition. Cutout in the dash by the previous owner for a crappy cassette deck, now elegantly plugged with an oil pressure gauge, working clock, and volt meter from a 240.
Volvo locking gas cap. Original owner's manual and maintenance booklet.
There is evidence of previous bodywork (the area where the magnet won't stick well), the passenger-side rear lower quarter panel. Beginning of paint bubbling, trailing edge of the driver-side rear wheel well.
Paint scrape (hard to spot 'til somebody points it out), the top outer edge of passenger-side rear wheel opening Current registration. The trunk is full of spare parts.
Volvo makes use of ultra-high strength steel to create an extremely safe protection cage.
