Vehicle Description
Classic Car Addict is excited to present this 1969 Pontiac GTO for
sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. The 1969 Pontiac GTO was a hero of
the muscle car era, but most people don't know why. The American
muscle car era, one of the most iconic periods in not only
automotive history but world history. It is hard to believe that
over 50 years ago Detroit was making tiny little cars with over 350
horsepower, and no seatbelts. We love the heroes that came out of
the late '60s horsepower wars, both men and machines, but one car
in particular represents the origin of our nostalgia better than
all, the '69 GTO.
The second generation of the Pontiac GTO lasted from 1968-1972 and
saw the GTO at its very best. For the 1968 Pontiac GTO, General
Motors refined the A-body platform it resided on, resulting in a
new fastback-esque design. The wheelbase was smaller at 112" and
the new "Endura" paint-matched rubber bumper made its debut. For
1969, the vent windows were removed, and the grille was slightly
changed.
The interior is the legendary rallye style front bucket seats. The
driver's seat does have a small tear, but overall, the interior is
in good condition. Looking through the steering wheel, it features
the original gauges, all in working order. You look under the dash
and see the additional IEQUUS gauges. The upgraded RetroSound AM/FM
radio with USB/SD MP3 works beautifully. Speakers are also in
working order. AC and AC controls work, but it needs a new
compressor for it to blow cold.
Our GTO is finished in Matador red, code 52. The paint is driver
quality. It features a ram air hood with hood tach located just
ahead of the windshield and lighted for nighttime visibility. You
can cruise in style, just like Rusty and Axel (watch the video on
our YouTube channel). The GTO rolls on BF Goodrich radial T/A's
225/60R15's.
The standard 350-hp 400-cu.in engine powered most GTO's with a
turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. Edelbrock 1406
4-barrell carburetor, power brakes (front disc, rear drum), and has
power steering. The GTO delivers impressive performance and an
exhilarating driving experience. This classic gem has been well
cared for and is ready for its new owners.
