William Lyons’ SS Cars Ltd. was renamed Jaguar Cars Ltd. following the end of World War II. Production resumed with a range of pre-war designs, which acted as a stop-gap measure pending the arrival of an entirely new generation of Jaguars. 1.5 Liter, 2.5, and 3.5-Liter motors were offered in a model known as the Mark V. The all-steel coachwork was offered as a saloon or drophead coupe and given a luxurious and well-appointed interior that became a Jaguar hallmark. Notably, only 577 examples of the 10,499 Mark Vs produced were right-hand drive 3.5L Drophead Coupes like this one.
This Mark V Drophead Coupe is powered by an overhead-valve 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine offering 125 horsepower with a Moss four-speed gearbox. It has large Lucas P100 headlights and a complete list of instrumentation displaying speed, engine revs, oil pressure, water temperature, amps, fuel, and time. The car rides on wire wheels covered by Ace discs and is a pure pleasure to enjoy on the road.
