Vehicle Description
Borrowing many features of the Lincoln Zephyr, Edsel Ford was the
influencer of the styling of the Ford Deluxe. The oval headlights
resembled the Zephyr and were built into the front fenders. The
grille was V-shaped with vertical bars. The 1939 model year was a
sort of crossover before the Ford Motor Company began designing
cars that were more appealing for the new decade. It was the final
year of hydraulic brakes, rumble seats, crank out windshields, and
the pointed nose. For the 1939 year, a total of 37,326 coupe models
were built and that number includes all the types of coupes. This
is a great looking 1939 Ford Deluxe custom car that is a real
head-turner. The body is all steel except for the rear fenders. The
exterior paint is custom yellow. Careful and creative details were
added for a unique flair and a look that stands out from the crowd.
The front fenders are accented with orange paint from the bumper up
and flames gracefully flow over the top of the fenders and sweeps
the sides of the fenders. Under the side body chrome trim is a
beautiful pinstriping that was artistically done. This pattern is
also on the center of the trunk just above the license plate. On
the trunk, to the left, you will see the iconic Tweety Bird figure
and the words Tweety Bird. On both doors under the door handle, is
the Ford script inside an oval and done in blue paint. Inside the
trunk, you will also see the same script on the trunk rear panel
and on the inside of the trunk lid. The floor of the trunk is
covered with brown carpet that is a nice contrast and it matches
the interior carpet. Wheels are American Racing wheels. The bucket
seat console interior features tan leather that outlines the tweed
seats. The leather is also on the door arm rests of the tweed door
panels. Each front seat has a Ford script that is outlined with the
Ford oval. Above is Eddie Built and under the oval is 1939. The
headliner is tweed. The tan dash has hand painted stripes that
match the striping on the exterior. Dash has Stewart Warner gauges
and those are in excellent condition. Pedals and shifter are Lokar.
There is a Billet cup holder on the console. The engine is a
custom-built, brand-new engine built by a famous racer engine
builder. It is a fuel injected 355 CID with 400 HP, a complete
roller motor with aluminum heads. It has a competition cam. In the
engine compartment, all hoses are hidden behind the side walls. A
computer screen to monitor fuel injection while you drive is on the
steering column. Options on this 39 Ford are AC, power steering,
power brakes, and a Premium sound system. Underneath is a Mustang
II front end, and the rear is a 9-inch Ford rear end. This 1939
Ford Deluxe Coupe Custom is not only very good-looking, but also a
car that will stand out at shows and on the road. The car is in
Kentucky, and it is available for viewing by serious buyers only.
