We will start off with the exterior of this Cougar. The body on it
is in great condition as everything looks to be solid and it has
great lines. There are some minor dents and dings down the sides
but as you can tell this is a clean car for its age. Everything is
covered in the White Paint scheme, which is the factory option for
it. The paint has been kept polished to a very nice finish that
shows well and is slick to the touch. This Cougar has the hidden
headlights that are all working as they should. We can also see the
the front bumper and grill is very nice as well. Out back the rear
bumper and taillights are in great condition. All the glass in this
Mercury has is a testament to how well this car has been cared for
and we can see that the seals and weather stripping are good. All
the trim and stainless is also in very good condition. To finish
off the look correct style steel wheels with the beauty rings and
GT Hub Caps with Dunlop White Letter Tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of this '69. On the inside it's
done in the two-tone white and red color combo that provides the
perfect complement to the exterior and is also the factory option.
It features the bucket seats option with center console that houses
the automatic shifter. The door panels are done in white and
feature the standard crank windows that go up and down with ease.
Both the front buckets and rear bench seat covers are very nice
along with all the padding. Looking at the dash we can see that it
has factory gauges that are all very nice and working as they
should. The red is accented by the wood grain and the factory
emblems. The carpet and headliner both have a great fit and are
nice as well. Inside the trunk all looks to be mostly stock as the
jams appear to be solid and it's detailed out with spare and trunk
mat.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this Mercury. Under the
hood it's powered by the matching numbers 351 V8 engine that's set
up with the 2 Barrel Intake and Carb. It's been dressed out with
the factory style air cleaner along with the painted valve covers.
We can see that the inner fenders are all solid along with the
firewall. This Cougar comes equipped with the standard steering and
brakes options with drums on all four corners. The 351 is mated to
the FMX Automatic Trans and original 9" Ford Rear End with 2.75
Gears. When we look under it we can see that it has been kept in
the south mostly all of its life as the floor pans all look to be
original and rock solid. The frame is in great condition as well
and this car shows no signs of being abused over the years. On the
highway it's a pleasure to drive as the 351 has plenty of power,
while the FMX transmission shifts out smooth and it handles
