Vehicle Description
Excellent Jeep! Clean California title in hand. Runs and drives
great.
Description from the owner:
Rare 1979 Jeep CJ 7. So many upgrades and new parts on complete
ground up rebuild. The rebuilt 4.2 liter straight six engine has
been over bored and aluminum sleeved with new machined head.
Currently there are only 4,670 miles on the new rebuilt engine. The
engine was rebuilt by S&J Engines out of Washington state. This
is a very solid engine, runs great, and is very dependable. Add the
California legal Howell throttle body injection kit, DUI
distributor, triple core aluminum radiator , and dump exhaust and
this 4.2 runs like no other.
This jeep was built for off-roading while keeping it perfect for a
daily or weekend driver. New rear Detroit locker with flanged axles
and welded and strengthened axle housing with a rear 4:11 gear
ratio. Rebuilt front end including new Warn locking hubs receiving
power transferred from the low geared model 20 transfer case.
Coupled with the rebuilt T-18 transmission, you can literally put
this in 1st gear and low range 4wd and crawl over anything and even
safely walk and steer from standing outside. New Rubicon Express 4"
leaf spring lift on new BFG KM2 mud terrain T/A 33 x 1250s. WFO
Concepts out of Auburn California aligned and shimmed the axles,
built a custom drive line, installed a dropped pitman arm, and
welded 3/8" frame plates, fully welded, from the front bumper to
the front body mounts with steering box support, creating a solid
tight front end and with front sway bar disconnects, its ready for
any manipulation while keeping the wheels well in contact for added
traction.
Custom front bumper with 10,000 lb Smittybilt X20 winch and tow
shackles. Front and rear differential rock guards. Custom side rail
rock plates and nerf running board step sides. New 20 gallon gas
tank with full rock guard encasement and electric fuel pump. Entire
undercarriage has been primed, rubberized undercoated and painted,
including fender wells and the engine compartment. Fiberglass body
tub with new metal front fenders and grill. Custom rear bumper with
tow hitch, trailer wiring, swing out full size tire rack, 2 five
gallon jerry can racks with tie downs and luggage rack.
Custom full six-point roll cage that extends through the body and
mounted to the frame. Quick release front driver and passenger seat
belts (three other standard seat belts for a total of 5), with
neoprene seat covers front and rear. The inside is coated with
truck bed liner and 4 removable drain plugs have been added to make
cleaning after a day of mudding easy, including exterior water
proof speakers. Almost everything on the jeep has been replaced
with new parts, including the entire dash board, all gauges, and
the entire jeep has been rewired, including an additional 30 amp
circuit for a future field welder and or compressor. New Best top
super top with soft full doors that are also half doors or run
topless with the American flag wind screen.
Everything works on the jeep and it has no issues that I am aware
of. The paint is in decent shape, but I didn't go crazy on the
paint job knowing I had intended going off road and knew it would
get scratched up. A professional paint job and a little detailing
and this Jeep could be show ready. I purchased the jeep in 2005 and
began the restoration in 2015 and "finished" in 2018. I never
thought I'd sell my jeep, especially after the years of a labor of
love restoring it. But sometimes life gets in the way. It's been
four years now and while I regularly keep her up and take it for a
drive, I just haven't had time to really use her anymore like I'd
hoped. She's been on the Rubicon and all over the northern Sierra
Nevada mountains, most of its adventures prior to the rebuild.
