Vehicle Description
This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza coupe is the debut year of the
second generation where the unique engineering met an even sportier
style. So with this car's red-blooded American style, bucket seat
interior, European-like handling, and fully independent suspension,
it makes for the kind of coupe that you'll love driving.
Shiny red paint and bright chrome bumpers give this car an instant
classic appeal. Clean glass, good window trim, complete badging,
and good sheet metal really show the fundamentals are done right
here, too. But we like these Corvairs for many more reasons. These
second-gen cars have a sportier style. The front has a sharper
point and a more intimidating overhang. Plus, the added yellow
headlights and deleted bumper guards further enhance the
distinction. And we love how the second-gen brings in the right
touches of muscle coupe style with the fastback profile, b-pillar
delete hardtop, and rally wheels. It turned the economy car style
into a proper lighter/smaller sibling for the Chevelle.
The full black interior continues more of that muscle car flair.
After all, not only does the black look sporty against the red, but
also the front bucket seats really prove this is a driver's car.
The smooth dash, nice door panels, and plush carpeting complete the
blackout look. There are cool classic pieces, like the thin/grippy
steering wheel, round gauge package, and automatic transmission
shift lever mounted on the dash. It makes for an overall style
that's quite vintage and fun.
While the styling was changed in 1965 to be a more authentic
American, the engine layout continues to be unique. The 164
cubic-inch flax-six is mounted in the rear. The motor has a
naturally low center of gravity, and it's smartly packaged over the
rear driving wheels. It created the same kind of size, engineering,
and nimbleness of cars like Porsches and Fiats. Plus, these later
Corvairs had the Corvette-inspired fully independent rear
suspension and a front stabilizer bar. We like that we have the
warranty card that suggests this is the original powerhouse. But
the maintenance file and strong-running nature of this coupe also
tell us it has been under proper care. There's even a receipt for
the brakes being serviced in 2022.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card, the
owner's manual, and maintenance records. This is a fun classic that
has a terrific driver-ready attitude. So it's time to fall in love
with this unique and sporty Corvair. Call today!!!
