California car, frame off restored. You save $20,000 because this
was a very clean Lemans to start with and it was restored as a GTO
with great options and colors.
EXTERIOR: The body is laser straight and fits right. No rust or
damage. It has the scooped GTO hood. The Regimental Red paint is
polished like glass. Only a few minor imperfections if you look for
them. The jambs are slick, weather strips look new. All the
stainless and chrome is straight and shiny. Windshield was
replaced. It sits proud on a set of 15 inch chrome Cragars with BFG
tires.
INTERIOR: The seats were rebuilt, new cushions and upholstery. New
door panels and armrests. Dash pad was replaced, instrument panel
and controls are clean. It has a retro stereo in the factory hole.
A tachometer is on the column and a gauge cluster is below the
dash. The interior metal is repainted gloss red. Nice factory
4-speed console and walnut shift knob. Headliner was replaced.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is a 1967 400 motor that was just rebuilt.
They reground the crank, fit the rods, all new bearings, gave it a
valve job, new seals, gaskets, harmonic balancer etc. Upgraded
Edelbrock intake and carb. The factory air conditioning system has
been serviced and blows cold. It also features power steering and
brakes, cadmium plated booster. It's complete and proper: squirters
are hooked up, has correct shroud, hood insulation etc. It's
painted very neatly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb is slick! Inside is
rust free metal with a nice spatter finish. Weather strip,
stickers, mat and tire cover were replaced. It has a restored jack,
no spare.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame for restoration. All the
suspension and steering has been rebuilt front and back. It has air
shocks in the rear. Correct factory type dual exhaust system with
optional stainless tips. Factory drum brakes at all four wheels. It
was gone through, e-brake is hooked up, the lines were replaced.
Looking up at the motor it looks brand new, fresh correct fuel pump
and starter. The 4-speed trans looks fresh. Drive shaft was
replaced. The floors and frame are clean metal with a smooth semi
gloss finish.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and sealed the freeze plugs,
tightened the belts, replaced reverse light switch, repaired heater
control vacuum lines and charged the a/c.
CONCLUSION: This is a hot car! A 4-speed with air is hard to find,
the colors and features really make it desirable. Frame off
restoration in today's world starts at $100,000, hurry before I
raise the price!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
