For Sale: 1956 Ford Thunderbird in Sammamish, Washington

Vehicle Description

Take a cruise around the town in style. If you are one of those people that loves the iconic look of the old T-birds or just want to pick up your special someone for an evening they’ll never forget, this is the car for you.

Powered by the 312 cubic inch, 225-hp, 3-speed, V8 Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, this Peacock Blue Ford Thunderbird car has it all. The interior is framed by the black and white 4-way power bench seat, power windows, power steering, power brakes, three-spoke steering wheel with horn ring, Astra-Dial full instrument panel with tachometer, vintage Town and Country radio and air conditioner (not working), antenna, analog clock, locking glove compartment, sun visors, and wind deflectors. The matching Peacock Blue removable hard top with portholes and rear window includes a manual folding black soft top with rear window. Other features include the dual exhaust outlets with bumper exit, removable rear fender skirts, tail fins, reverse-tilt hood, front fender louvers, side-opening fresh air vents, chrome trim, chrome bumpers, chrome grille, and hood scoop. This T-Bird is supported by G78R15 Cushion-Aire Poly-4 Remington whitewall tires, chrome hub caps, and the spare conveniently located in the Continental kit. This car comes with car jack, service manual, and car cover. All this within her 102-inch wheelbase over her 185-inch length. The paint does have a few minor chips.

The dual exhausts give this ‘56 Thunderbird a nice throaty sound!

Ford only produced 15,631 Thunderbirds in 1956, and this one came off the Dearborn, Michigan assembly line on January 6th, 1956, destined for the Los Angeles market. She has been with the same owner since 1987, a vintage car collector for many years before that, and is now ready for the next person to love and enjoy her. An extremely beautiful American classic that is available in the captivating, head-turning Peacock Blue. Ford offered the ’56 T-Bird in a choice of ten different colors but it is the Peacock Blue that is the most sought after.

The Thunderbird was intended to be the flagship model for the Ford Motor Company, competing against the Chevrolet Corvette. It was built to be a cool-looking boulevard cruiser with a focus on upscale personal luxury and comfort.

The 1956 Thunderbird improved upon the early success of the '55 T-Bird with:

  • A rear-mounted Continental Kit to increase the truck space
  • Port holes to the hardtops to improve sight lines
  • 12-volt electrical systems to improve reliability of the electrical systems and starting up
  • Stylistic upgrades including cowl vents on the fenders, wind wings on the windshield, and new routing for the dual exhaust out the rear of the car

The much sought after Peacock Blue T-Bird is illusive and rare to find on the west coast. If you want to be the next loving caretaker of this classic vintage automobile, please contact me.
