This 1981 Chevrolet Blazer K5 is the right mix of style and
substance. After all, part of its extra-mean style also comes from
an upgraded 4x4 stance. Plus, there's excellent sleek paint, a
nicely done interior, and solid small block power.
The blue on this Blazer is awesome. It has an electric-like
presence that really likes to tell the world this Chevy was given a
solid investment. In fact, the way the sunlight pops against the
metallic finish helps to highlight the straightness of the body
panels. We'd tell you that it makes this Blazer look extra-nice,
but really we all know this one only wants to be extra-mean.
There's a big dark side to this one where the full trim package and
details were blacked out, including the bumpers, upgraded side
steps, side mirrors, window trim, and removable hardtop. Plus, the
clean front end with the black billet grille going over the
headlights looks awesome. But your favorite dark piece will likely
be the 22-inch Fuel wheels. They both add to the attitude and show
off the enhanced 4x4 stance.
The blue and black continue inside. It's a nicely intertwined
package with clean black upholstery, smooth blue dash metal, newer
black carpeting, and both blue and black on the doors. There are
good comfort features like an AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input,
tinted glass, and provisions for air conditioning (it will need
servicing to blow cold again.) And since the interior looks so
good, it means you'll happily show it off by taking out the
removable hardtop for the coolest convertible SUVs around.
Under the hood is a 350 cubic-inch V8. You already know these have
a reputation for being both hardy and powerful. And this one has
been upgraded further with Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and
Edelbrock intake. The V8 fires up nicely, runs smoothly, and makes
a terrific sound out of the header-fed dual exhaust. The two-speed
4x4 transfer case, nicely lifted stance, and newer (2021) Red Dirt
Road M/T tires give this a fine off-road presence. But this also
can cruise the streets with authority thanks to power steering,
power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic
transmission.
