Very nice example right here of the Pontiac Tempest. By all accounts the same car as the GTO, but a lower trim level. Engine options included the “middle of the road” 326 as this car was originally equipped with, and a 2 speed Power Glide was the only automatic available at the time.
This particular Tempest has been nicely upgraded to the Pontiac 350 engine, and a 700R4 automatic with overdrive…Much more desirable and reliable!
The paint has been on the Tempest for 20 years and shows very nicely. Note the subtle flames down low, giving a nod to the hotrod enthusiasts as the car rumbles by.
The 350 engine has been rebuilt, and has a nice little performance cam and deep, smooth sounding dual exhaust to catch the attention of on lookers…And there will be plenty of those as most everyone loves this body style!
This Tempest is an excellent cruising Musclecar from a time very fondly remembered. Kinda nice to have a classic car that’s still alive that prowled the streets in the 1960’s. Most of these cars are gone now, so its kind of a privilege to take care of these iconic cars of Americas past.
A final thought as we head into Summer: If you have been considering a classic car to enjoy for the Summer, and keep polished all winter long, the time is now, as they’re not making any more Pontiacs!
Very cool, collector Musclecar!
