Are you looking for a piece of history you can drive? Rolling art
to display to your friends? It doesn't get much better than a De
Tomaso Pantera!
This awesome 1974 Pantera is a street legal race car with a ton of
documentation listing just about every part that made its way into
this car, and photos showing the build. That binder of information
goes to the new owner to display proudly.
Where else would we start with this car than the driveline? It has
a 351 Cleveland 4-bolt main block that was bored .010 over. A
stroker kit pushed the displacement to 382 cubic inches with a
Callie's crank, Oliver rods, and Ross pistons. A 12:1 compression
ratio is achieved with Ford Motorsports aluminum B351 heads ported
by CJ Batten with Jesel rockers, Ferrea titanium valves, Ford
Motorsports valve covers with valve spring oilers. A custom ground
.666 lift roller cam, Crower roller lifters, MSD crank fire
electronic ignition, Moroso Ultra 40 plug wires, Roush intake with
PRO-Systems racing carburetor, and a Peterson R4 dry sump pump with
Peterson oil tank and Billet Fabrication oil pan. We have a lot
more engine specs! If you want to know something specific, just
ask.
The IMSA body panels from Hugh Kleinpeter's Group 5 Pantera were
installed by M.D. Engineering. The chassis, NASCAR suspension, and
tube frame were done by E.J Trivette, with a ZF transaxle rebuild
by Mickey Kramer of European Performance. The engine was built by
Kris Nelson of Nelson Competition Inc. With 614 horsepower and 502
lb ft of torque, it will absolutely fly!
This car has been around Sebring International Raceway and Daytona
International Speedway, and we have photos of those laps. Every
part of this car is built for performance, from the NASCAR GN brake
calipers, Martinsville Super Rotors, and Hawk HT10 brake pads, to
the Tilton master clutch and brake cylinders with balance bar. HRE
501 Vintage series wheels in 10x16 and 14x16 look great and allow
plenty of rubber to keep this car planted with Goodyear Eagle
racing tires.
Only 5,262 Panteras were Imported to the US from 1971-1974 making
this a rare collectible that would be very at home in a collection,
or a museum.
