Introduced in September of 1936, Packard’s 15th Series included 50 models and body styles. Of those, the 1937 Packard was the first year of the exclusive Safe-T-Flex independent front suspension and Servo Sealed hydraulic vacuum booster brakes.
Packard produced only 1,300 12-cylinder cars in 1937, and the Model 1506’s rare 5-passenger touring sedan with a 132” wheelbase is often sought out by classic Packard enthusiasts.
This beautiful Packard was in the care of Dick Roach from the late 1990s until it was sold to its current owner in 2015. During Mr. Roach’s stewardship, he restored the car and showed it at a Missouri Grand Classic, where it was a first-place winner in 2013. At the time of restoration, this car was all original and deserved a body-on restoration. A complete engine rebuild was carried out as well as adding the new broadcloth interior, which still remains in excellent condition.
Since that time, it has been used sparingly and toured moderately, including an Ohio Classics and Carriages CARavan in 2021 and the Mt. Washington CCCA Caravan in 2016. Any mechanical or service needs have been under the care of respected restorer Chris Charlton of Classic Car Services in Paris, Maine. It’s easy to see that the current owner spares no expense in order to be prepared for any CARavan or driving adventure, and you can view service invoices in the photo gallery to prove it.
The Centennial Blue exterior is in good condition with only a few areas near the running boards that show spidering. The tan carpets are in excellent condition showing little wear, and the brightwork gleams like new. All of the gauges and electrics work well, as does the radio.
This striking Packard Twelve is the perfect combination of dependability and details focused on touring in addition to being a high-point concours restoration. It’s ready to show at any CCCA function and participate in all Packard club events and tours. Just so you know, it’s reported to attain speeds of 100 mph.
Just imagine yourself being behind the wheel on a country road or showing off at a concours this summer. We welcome test drives and inspections, so come take a look!
